You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who gives a shit that you're pirating games that haven't been sold in stores for decades, though.

When does it get good?
If you don't like the game by the time everyone has 3 paradigms to switch between, then the game isn't for you. That's about it. The joy in it is the combat system pretty exclusively, and if it's doing nothing for you, abandon it.
Other people may tell you to hang on 20-25 hours when you can choose your exact party and the game is "open world" but honestly there's no point in suffering for that long if it's not your kind of game.

There will be a point where you can freely choose your party members and all of their roles, but it's not for a while yet. You;re about halfway to that point I think.

So how come this game hasn't yet developed a following of contrarian hipsters who weed out all criticism? It was, after all, more hyped at launch than the above games, and better-reviewed (apart from WW).
Brawl is a more coherent game than Smash 4, but Smash 4 has better gameplay and more characters, plus everyone moved on to it (both the casual base and tourneyfags)

Is auto-aim ever justifiable?
It's a good crutch for people who play FPS/TPS games on controllers.

When the developer can't make a decent manual aim to save their lives, I'd say yes.
If it's a single player game which focuses more on fast paced movement and positioning rather than precise aiming then it's understandable why auto aim would be a thing.
