When I was a teenager IX was my favorite FF game of the PSX era
After playing through all of the as an adult, I have to say that 7 is by far the best in both story and gameplay, 8 gets way too much shit, and 9 is incredibly overrated.
IX did have the best FMV's though, I will give it that.

Shortly after the Gamecube came out.
N64, Gamecube, and Wii are all of roughly equal quality. All of them had good first party titles, some decent third party exclusives, and next to no multiplats worth mentioning save maybe the Gamecube. Only WiiU is weaker than the others because aside from a few choice games it's kinda stumbled across the board. But I digress, Nintendo consoles have all essentially been the same song and dance since the N64.

I just cleared Final A in Imperishable Night for the first time (on Normal), then played another route to try Final B and holy shit the difficulty jump from Final A to Final B is like going from Normal to Hard. I managed to get to the final spell somehow (not counting the optional spellcard that I assume will appear as it did in Final A) only to find you can't even continue, fuck. I'm glad I downloaded this from somewhere that had a preexisting savefile so I can practice the stage at least, but I wasn't prepared to get thrashed as hard as I did.
And the games only get harder and harder from this point, don't they?

Yes. But Mario and Sonic really needs to go under shovelware, since that's what it is. The Wii U is done, this will be its last year, and a sparse last year at that. Oh well, NX in summer hopefully, or at least a reveal in summer and a release at the end if 2016.

Dead console, yea. All the A teams have moved onto making NX games. The B teams are dishing out shovelware, and there's no third party support to buffer the titles really.
