Can we get a 3D Platformer thread going?
What do you think about A Hat in Time and Yooka-Laylee?

I don't have much fate in A hat in time, looks amateurish. Yooka-Laylee I look forward to though, but we haven't seen anything besides pre-alpha game play and concept art.
A Hat in Time looks okay from what I've seen, which isn't much since I'm trying to stay as blind as possible on it so it's a fresh new experience when I do play it. The animations and movement look really cheap though.
We've barely seen anything from Yooka-Laylee, and I prefer it that way. Although a lot of people are wary of them using Kickstarter to fund it, I'm pretty confident the game will be good, since the guys behind it have plenty of experience.
As for my favorite, I'm torn between Banjo-Kazooie and DK64, probably leaning toward the latter.

I had fun with the hat in time beta, but I remember some announcement they had about how some of the later levels will not have separate acts and will be just linear one time levels. I don't remember if this is true or where I heard it, but a lot of the hype has died for me.
Also the red spheres that you collect in the level don't seem to do anything (I think they heal you?) so there's literally no incentive to collect collectibles. There are lots of things to collect (the pieces of paper that open the safes) but again, there is literally no reason to collect anything because nothing does anything.
I wrote a short essay about how the player needs a reason to collect things on the feedback forums, but was mostly ignored.

How would this games be localized?
Zero has a Pc Port (which I heard is terrible, due to being extremely buggy).
And Ao has a chinese Pc Port, which was apparently even worse, which was horribly translated to chinese. XSEED, will have to use the PSP scrift,and that will further increase their workload and probably wont be worth the effort.
Worse even is that the fantranslation is gonna be a machine translation tier translation (Nayuta no Kiseki team, ffs).Is these games being translated to english truely a lost cause?
With how awful SC sold and how well Cold Steel sold it wouldn't surprise me if Xseed just said forget the Crossbell games and move on with Sen 2, and working on Sen 3 when it's out in japan

Either Xseed has to ask Falcom to do a whole new PC port or work with the PC ports as is and fix any issues it might have. The big problem is 3rd since SC isn't what you call a hot seller and after all the trouble that it causes they might not want to deal with that and just focus on Cold Steel 2.

It's getting a vita and xbone release in the west, and there appears to be a PC version being brought over too.
Apparently it's a really tough dungeon crawler with permadeath mechanics.
