In reality. It looks like it's swinging back to its SNES and SF64 days, which is nice to see. Hell, they've even got one of the bosses from the SNES game shown during the Direct.
I'm also a complete sucker for the SNES throwback with a Fox Amiibo. I hope it changes the music too.

No. They're much harder to port. The MD games are running on emulator too.

They're not the same series - do not buy FFT:WOTL for PSP, it's got a shitty slowdown bug that affects battles
