I can't play video games anymore. I just can't.
I recently purchased Twilight Princess HD and began playing it in the living room while my roommate (female) watched. She is a "grrl gamer" and wears Zelda shirts and talks about how much she loves video games all while never playing them. She buys all the latest games and does not play them. To each their own, I suppose.
Anyway, I got up to pic related in TPHD and she said, "I love this guy... first example of diversity in a Zelda game."
I nearly lost it. I finished his dialog, went to the menu, saved and quit. I haven't played since.
I had been losing interest in games over the years, slowly waning down to less than an hour per week, but I think this really did it for me.
Her comment was so representative of exactly what's wrong with the """""culture""""" surrounding video games. She wasn't even correct, but she *had* to say it.
Sorry for the blog post. I don't have many friends who would understand why this is a problem. Thank you for reading.

Either the original PS1 Wipeout or the PSP games are good places to start. The games don't have an overarching story aside from background fluff so it doesn't really matter anyway. The only game you should avoid is Fusion.

I'm looking into FPS games to play some as it is a genre I mostly ignore and don't really keep in touch with.
So I looked up 'top 10 FPS games' on youtube and I don't know if it's just me, but it all looks the same. All the CODs and Battlefields.
I have already played some major FPS games - the first STALKER, the newest Wolfenstein, Metros, Deus Exes, Bioshocks, HalfLifes, Memeland 1 (finished first map and died of boredom), Portals, Doom 3 when I was younger...
What game should I play? They all look so boring and same, like all of them are just run and shoot shits. In the FPS games I played, HLs and Bioshocks, the gameplay was often enriched by additional gameplay elements - in Bioshock you had plasmids, daddies, sisters, in Half Life 2 you had all the crazy different segments, such as driving, gravity gun, some easy puzzles etc.
But it seems like in most of the 'top' FPS games you just run and shoot and then you get to a cutscene and it's all taking itself way too seriously.
Metro was similar but it had great atmosphere, Wolfenstein wasn't that serious and you could fuck everyone's shit up in crazy ways...
It seems like the recent FPS games are all "OMG MUH WAR MUH ARMY MUCH SOLDIER PRESS F TO PAY RESPECT FOR THE STRIPES AND STARS!!!" with too many absolutely boring wanna be 'super cool' segments like a plane falling maybe 5m in front of you but somehow not hurting you at all because script fuck you (also, it being scripted takes any tension away and makes it non-thrilling).

Idk if Phil's "good guy" approach is gonna pay off but we'll just see. And you can mark cross play off the list. Sony would never agree to that for business reasons, nor Nintendo
Win 10 is not a pc. They want to turn your pc into a console to fully own it.
I'm reaching the point where I'm starting to hate video games guys and it's scaring me. I truly enjoy games, I love playing them, and I love experiencing them. But the games that have been coming out lately have been so lackluster and constant rehashes that I've been losing motivation to play any games anymore. Please tell me that there's hope that the gaming industry will be made proper again.
I know it's a stupid thread to make, but I want to know if people feel the same way.

I know I am a filthy casual but for me it is more fun to watch than to play, occasionally I try getting into it again but there is so much shit that I would never have figured out on my own like making refridgerator warehouses and stuff.

I like it when you disarm an enemy they freak out and don't want to be an enemy anymore.
