Galaxy killed 3D Mario from staying in the format of a "3D" Mario, while that it tried to be story-heavy 2.5D platformer full of useless planetoids and unneeded minigame-esque segments like pointing at the stars or paying up starbits to unlock an level area.
giant backstories should stay in RPGs such as Paper Mario, but we all know who was the real culprit of the sudden change to the spinoff series aside Miyamoto who was clearly giving some advice. (it was Kensuke Tanabe)
unlike Galaxy, 3D World did the job correctly. tried to be another and basic traditional Mario but in the same time kept the spirit and appearance of an actual 3D Mario..
same for Sunshine, despite it's horrid flaws compared to 64, it was still an average and experimental 3D Mario game. really, the game didn't deserve metroidfag-like hate it gotten when it was released.
Nintendo will never give up on Galaxy due to how rude the fans will be if they don't get another one anytime soon. newer 3D Marios will come but Galaxy won't stay out of it's influence.

I don't find it surprising that you faggots don't like Undertale. /v/ doesn't understand art: they don't understand modern painting like Rothko or Pollock, they don't understand modern music like Boulez and Ferneyhough, and they certainly don't understand modern games like Her Story and Undertale.
Undertale isn't a game about anything. The story isn't significant, the characters aren't, the setting isn't. Not even the enemies: it's all a postmodern collage of gaming from the RPG to the FPS to the online webcomic. It uses its influences like any great postmodern art to craft a new individual examination of their overarching narratives, values, ideas. It casts shadow upon such contrivances as killing every enemy and multiple playthroughs in an effort, like Berio's Sinfonia for orchestra and eight voices, to goad the industry into moving forward.
But again, I don't expect you guys to get that. You're still in high school.
