Hey, /v/, I have never played a MOBA before and I'm thinking about getting into LoL. Is it worth it?

I will. It's not worth getting into anymore, if it was 4-5 years ago I would say yes but the game has just become a bastardized version of itself. It lost all soul it used to have. If you want to get into a MOBA I'd say try HotS or even Dota for christ's sake. LoL used to be a game I enjoyed several years ago, but now it's unbalanced and become too toxic due to the ever growing fanbase.Ahri is fucking sexy though.

i counter this by saying, its probably the most mid range MOBA out there, not babby level HotS and not wtfisgoingon-weallgot1hit dota.
Its entry level in that you can transition to either of the big titles after getting a handle on LoL, though the same could be said about HotS
I feel like LoL has tighter controll schemes too, the movement in dota has that turning circle or whatever it is and HotS is similar but a bit more tight. That could be my time spent bias though.
but yeah the community outside of normals and playing with friends is pretty fucking cancerous

It's for people who really, really want to play a game and don't want to wait for the final release.
It's only been a recent phenomenon that companies have charged for it, but god knows they would have been doing it years ago if the technology could have supported it. I still remember the fights over the Diablo 2 beta discs, and Blizzard could probably have made billions just selling those discs alone.

In Skyrim? Kinda hard to recommend since I'm not a huge fan of the game. Still, in all of the TES games I go battlemage/paladin. Heavy armor, sword and shield, healing magic, and some utility spells. I also remember my friend talking about how he went completely into summoning monsters to the point he had skeletons and shit following him 24/7, which always sounded neat. You could also go illusion and other debilitating magics and just paralyze everything or push them off cliffs with the voice powers.
