Where would you place the game in the series? I am considering getting it.
I'd say it's the middle of the road. It really depends on what you look for in Mario & Luigi games. The story is boring and very stripped down, but the gameplay is literally the best in the series.

And in case someone's once again new to this PC gaming stuff: Use a program like DaemonTools Lite to mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.
Any good games out there with decent character creation? I'm a sucker for dress up. It adds a lot of replay value for me when a game gives you the means to change up your character.

The rumor about Link having dual sexes in the upcoming Zelda got me wondering, how much can a game fail/succeed based on it's protagonist being a female? Do people still care deeply about who they're playing as? Does it depend on the game?
I immediately thought of Lightning. Final Fantasy XIII sold relatively well despite it's flaws and most people didn't even mind playing as a female. Her design even panders exclusively to Western sensibilities.
Obviously it can be profitable to shoot for inclusion in a basic area like which elf person you play as. But when is it not acceptable?

I don't understand why gender is a thing people need to represent themselves. One reason I play vidya is to be other people. To be a teenage boy, to be an older experienced man, to be a girl. All those things I welcome and is interesting to me. That applies to different races as well. It really does not matter to me as long as its not to just appeal to an audience or meet a quota.
I like being able to play as a girl so the game is a further step in wish fulfillment
