Nintendo however can take a few harsh truths and go to work on them.

For every collectathon based platformer you put out on one of your platforms, your fans collectively sigh because you're contributing to 50%+ of your library being platformer games. Enjoy a little diversity.
First and foremost, they need to invest in better hardware and much more frequent marketing to even compare to other companies. They need to shift their consoles' direction, both handheld and home.
At the bare minimum, the hardware of successor to the 3DS should have:

>capable of 1080p display
>customization without purchase
>no XL bullshit, only New bullshit
>drop backwards-compatible for 3DS titles, re-release them as upgraded, HD titles at the very most

You don't have to make an indie game. You can just bust your way into a studio like Naughty Dog, EA, Activision, Rockstar, etc. same with film.

A friend bought a Rift and I recently played Dreadhalls on it - it's really intense.
Also, any chase scene makes me freak out especially when they're close enough that I can't risk turning around to see how far back they are. The Hunter section on DS1 where you were trapped and had to move the bunks out of the way while fending it off was great.
