Why do people hate variety? I remember the maps that are just new coats of paints receiving praise when they came out, I've been wishing the game had stadiums that offered something different since the game released.

I haven't actually touched the game in months.
I really wish there was more variety in the maps too, a few new ones outside of the rocket lab ones would be neat.
The main problem I have with the map is that it shows up in ranked and is literally the only map that's different to the default one. So every so often out of nowhere you just get handed this curveball that plays slightly differently
Why are there so many X-Men characters?
This is more egregious than Sakurai and Fire Emblem.

Agreed, I tried to play it a few months ago and was bored out of my skull.
I've heard it's close to 150 hours long with all the expansions. I don't have time for that.
I'm in the mood for a sidescroller / brawler / metroidvania and stumbled over this one. Is it one of these throwback games that everyone praised but no-one actually likes?
Additionally I've been looking at Phantom Breaker and Rabi-Ribi, any recommendations in this regard? Don't care for the anime style, am okay with it though.

Metroid Zero Mission style controls. Thankfully there's a patch for it.
I would really like some form of clans for Dark Souls, beyond the Covenants. Some system to organize Friends. People might not agree with me though.
I hate how people think the Zero Mission physics is the end all for Metroid.

I built a PC for Windows 98 and XP era games, played some Crimson Skies and SW: Racer for the nostalgia.
Suppose Dark Souls (and Boodborne) didn't have their visual aesthetic. Would they be as popular? Are visuals the most underrated part of the series?
I think they'd still be popular, but they would be more niche. Gameplay only games aren't actually that popular in the main.

Surely it's the opposite though, Demon's Souls was a mild success but Dark Souls is when it really got popular, and that was when the aesthetics became great.
