Video Games that only you have played
There are quite a few, actually. I'll start with an easy one.
I haven't seen anyone talk about this little gem anywhere in several years. The story is fairly simple, but the game as a whole was pretty good when it was released. Apparently it also gained enough popularity to get a fanmade campaing for it.

What is a good RTS where I can build up a group and send people off to gather iron and copper and all that good shit? I can't find my copy of AoE2 or this other egyptian game like it, but I loved both of those.

also, if they're modern (I.E. not from the 90's) that would be a big plus, I haven't seen much in the way of RTS recently save for Civ V

Civ isn't an rts, but assuming you want medievalfantasy aoe2 isn't bad. Warcraft 3 is good as well.
If you don't mind scifi then go Supreme Commander.
If you like Wh40k/want to get into it try Dawn of War 1 dark crusade/soulstorm.
If you like ww1/ww2 type stuff try Company of Heroes.
If you don't like at least one of these, chances are you don't like RTS and should try either a Total War game, Grand Strategy or a 4x.

Chapter 9, where you have to go about collecting all that pointless stuff in the mansion with the main villain teleporting about and one shotting you. Man that game was so fucking terrible, and that was the final straw. I was so hyped after Resident Evil 4, Mikami. Why?

After playing through the Dark Souls series I'm interested in the King's Field series.
Is it worth getting into? Which game should I start with?

i'd still recommend you to play the first though, if only to see what a unique experience of a game it is
I'm doing this set up with a vive instead of a rift and it's amazing. I'm also using voiceattack so I don't have to fumble around for keys for actions like raising/lowering landing gears when I'm wearing my headset.

No. I deleted my town. My completed fossil collection and aquarium, them and their memories. And sold it.
I stopped giving a shit. There's nothing interesting to do in New Leaf and the town customization is held back by stupid shit like being unable to remove rocks and the invisible grid. Villager personalities blend together thanks to the developers not wanting people to get insulted by certain personalities and NPCs don't say anything interesting.
Sold it and it looks like there won't be a new game for years.
