Just finished this, solid as fuck, the best time I've had playing a Mario game since Galaxy. Why does everyone shit on this game? Some people say cause it's similar to 3D world but I think that's an invalid argument because that doesn't make it objectively 'bad'. And why does everyone dismiss this game as not a 'mario game'? It's miles better than the NSMB series, is it because it wasn't a radical departure like the Galaxy games? Does a 'core' Mario game have to fit some arbitrary ruleset? I've played every single Mario game except Galaxy 2 and this shit was solid as fuck.
But it is similar to 3d world, in fact it is the exact same game.

I wouldn't say that was censored so much as given a complete aesthetic makeover.
So I've recently replayed this game and I have to say outside all of the mechanical improvements that came with DaS and its successors this still feels like the most complete Souls experience in my opinion.
The atmosphere is amazing and you really feel like you're on a grand adventure in a broken world, something that other Souls games tried to recapture but in those everything feels so gamified that you sometimes forgot what Souls used to be about.
What's your favorite Souls game?

Dark Soul is my favorite (also the one I played first), and Bloodborne is probably my second favorite, followed by Demon's Souls. I can see any of those three being somebody's favorite, but the mechanical improvements put the other two above Demon's Souls for me and I feel like they all have a unique atmosphere to them.
There's still a lot I appreciate about DeS though, I love the cerebral touch to the game's mood and a few other things. Something small that represents what I like about it is how magic is worked into the setting. Dark Souls feels like it has sorcery just because it's a fantasy game and that's what you do, but Demon's Souls actually works it into the story and background of the world. Having it be an arcane mystery to the characters contributes to that cerebral atmosphere I mentioned before, too. Reminds me of Berserk.
Well about 1hr into the Campaign I can already tell you, this one is going to go out of the Ball Park. If this is your first FPS you have won the lotto if it isn't you are going to be treated to the best looking and playing FPS since the original Doom. If you like shooting hellspawn and lots of gore with an amazing soundtrack this is your game. Everything oozes polish here from all the detail in the textures, screams in the distance to the ambient sounds you can tell they put their heart and soul into this title and wasn't about to F-UP this iconic of iconic franchises
