He's right, he isn't really giving any opinions, just talking about the facts behind DOOM's engine.
But the game is still 3D in the definition that what we see with our mind is a 3D space because they draw floors and ceilings. Just because the game's engine doesn't think in 3D space doesn't mean thats how the player interprets everything.
But in the end it's just a semantics debate about what is and what isn't 3D.

I want to wait for reviews. I know there's not gonna be that much to do, as far as action goes, but I like time waster games. I don't mind mining different planets to make my ship kick ass and find a sweet faction and bomb everyone else.

How important is character models to you in video games?

So, according to the latest leaked image, the next mgs game is going to take place in the jungle. Looks like we get to play as Solid Snake again, but according to the info that was released we might be playing a different character all together. Some people seem to think it's Big Boss, the guy Snake is cloned from, but the fact that they refer to snake by name in the trailer could be used as a counter argument.
Of course, this could just be a fake image and the info could be made up, but... heres whats been revealed so far-
Snake can hide in tall grass and bushes similar to the cardboard box.
He can equip camouflage at various points in the game to help blend in with the enviornment. Apparently it can shrink the enemies vision cones with good camo.
He'll have to eat in order to survive. Wild animals to be specific.
You can leap from waterfalls to evade capture.
You'll have to watch out for hazards like crocodiles and quick sand.
If you're not careful and get injured a lot, there will be a mini game of sorts where Snake performs surgery on himself.
Raiden might make an appearance? This I don't buy, since if it is taking place in the 60's, Raiden wouldn't have been born yet.
That's all I can think of at the moment, but then again, I fell for the MGS2 being released on Xbox that one magazine published for April Fools complete with mock ups like Snake fighting Ocelot in the area you fight Fatman. This is probably bs as well.

Oldfags of /v/, what was the first indie game that became a breakout success on the PC, gaining mainstream attention and allowing others to follow in its footsteps?
I know it wasn't super meat boy, but that's the first i remember becoming a mainstream hit.
Braid is usually cited as the beginning of the indie boom, but that took a while to come to PC. XBLA was actually what fostered indies in the beginning.
