I don't think /v/ has really earned the right to identify as a "diversely-opinionated community".
I only ever see one of two opinions here. There's no in-between, it's always just a black-and-white shitfit. While /v/ may not be one person, they are something of a hivemind.

That's just because an extreme opinion is more likely to get replies. You'll get far more people talking to you if you call a game shit than if you just you thought it was decent but not anything special, or you call it game of the year instead of just saying you enjoyed it.
