Why are TF2 players acting like their game isn't casual now that Overwatch came out?

Just got into games last year, what are the best games you would recommend to a newcomer that are good *even without nostalgia*?
The only games I know I love are Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, and Dark Souls.

What systems do you have? PC I assume, but anything else?
If you like TF2, Overwatch is pretty similar. Salt and Sanctuary is 2D dark souls. You should try a lot of different genres if you're still new to games though.

Steins;Gate starts off about a microwave that sends back notes, but doing so massively alters the present that the protagonist lives in. Later on he's actually able to physically go back in time. One ending involves him deliberately repeating the same three days over and over to the point of insanity.

Shadowrun was exactly what I wanted, and Dragonfall exceeded my expectations. Admittedly, the third one was meh, but I would still back them again for more.
