So, this guy sounded like Liquid in MGS2, it seemed Liquid frequently took control of him. He had to cut that arm to prevent Liquids ghost to take over.
in MGS4, they revealed that was not the case and all of it was self-suggestion, psycho theraphy and shit like that.

Ive walked around with all vocations trying a bit of combat. Fighter and Strider were my favourite out of those. Ive heard, however, that mages are really fun later on in the game

You can literally change vocation whenever you want. Doesn't the game even implore you to change vocations to unlock more things?

you can switch vocations at will. the main thing is stat building. whatever vocation you are when you level up effects which stats increase. so if you level 50 times as strider, which gives you say 3 strength and 1 magic increase, means you'll have a very high str based character which will do good damage as any physical based attack vocation. but then if you switch to mage you'll have shit stats for magic.
a lot of min maxers will do something like play all levels as assassin even though they want to play a warrior at endgame just because assassin gives you the most strength on leveling.

Every game nowadays has a competitive mode with ranks.

Not much skill required when the hitboxes are gigantic and the spells have such short cooldowns.
Poorly balanced champions, especially the newest ones.
Also games are decided very early with little room in catching up if the opponent doesn't fuck up.
