Azor Jon is a young man of honor and glory. He's no mary-sue, he is as flawed as anyone, his shortcomings are what makes him the very man he is. Azor Jon falls plenty, but he always gets back up.
False King and Azor Pretender Stannis never did anything but commit acts of evil, got thousands and thousands of his men killed fighting his pointless wars. He slew his brother and burned his daughter, all for nothing.

Not that dodging arrow is easy but still sad Rickon didn't get to do much.
Arya's arc has been terrible and embarrassingly illogical. They demonstrated that she learned absolutely nothing during her training before having her get stabbed and then immediately recover. They made her appear pitifully incompetent and then the HotU just lets her walk right out of there? What?
The writers have completely destroyed Jaime's entire redemption arc by keeping him infatuated with Ceraei, and bringing the Blackfish back after talking him up as a real fighter only to have him die off screen in a major departure from the books was lame.
Up until this episode, there was nothing interesting about Daenarys' arc either, even though it should have been cool to see her in Vaes Dothrak. It just kinda fell flat.
Jon's storyline has been decent, but his resurrection was underwhelming for how long we've been waiting, and it took Davos suddenly caring enough about Jon, basically a stranger to him, out of nowhere to suggest something as outlandish as resurrection. Why should hr have any investment in the first place?
Dorne really wasn't salvageable after last season, but that doesn't mean that it makes any sense that a bunch of bastard women took out the entire Martell line and are presumably supposed to have been granted ruling powers and approval from the rest of the kingdom for some reason.
The Kingsmoot was another "home run" scene that they managed to make only so-so. He admits to regicide and then gets elected anyway? Not even the ironborn would be okay with that. Eurone himself in the show just doesn't have any of the charisma that he should have to swing everyone to his side like that.
A few things this season have been decent, but all in all, most of the motivations and plot have been totally illogical if you step back and examine them. to his side like that.

Serious post here, I think this episode was much too indulgent in the senseless violence and gore and has lost its way. Hardhome worked so well because not only was it so well directed and choreographed, but the writing was top-notch, kept you guessing, and had broader implications of what's to come. This episode just seemed like an hour of people getting torn apart and covered in blood, dirt, etc...
Now I'm not trying to be a contrarian, I've loved the series since it first came out, went out and read all the books after the first season came out. Most of all I was interested in the politics but it seems like that aspect of the show has been thrown out the window in favor of revenge porn. And I go online, to every single venue, and people are praising the episode as the show's best and how they've outdone themselves and I'm left wondering if there's anyone out there who doesn't think that the epitome of this franchise isn't the gore and violence?
P.S I'm not saying that the cinematography wasn't great, or that it truly wasn't a spectacle to watch. If you enjoyed it, then so be it. I'm not trying to take that away from you. I just think this franchise has more to offer than "spectacle".

I'm actually interested in strong female characters in the medieval setting. Cersei is an interesting perspective at one that resents her feminity a fuckton, whilst Margaery and Olena are the opposite, they use their "weakness" to manipulate men from the background.

Dany at least looks near god-like to her followers at times, having three dragons, and being an inspirational figure to the smallfolk. (But also being pretty dense).

distance plays a roll for sure. That test featured cover at 20 feet. A straight line would be best since the max speed of the average human will allow you to get to cover quickly. With more distance the speed of the human has less of an effect and a zigzag pattern would (I believe) improve the results of not getting hit.
additionally, bullets are faster than arrows so this doesn't make a good example.

Makes sense appealing to her for support on those grounds, Dany isn't a pragmatist, she's a black and white moral crusader (but only her morals, as you see with Tyrion managing it better than her initially), so having Yara appeal to her love of equality made sense, Yara obviously doesn't care about that. She even resists not being able to reave and rape. She's been an iron-born her entire life and led rapists ashore, she clearly has no issue.

Dany has also been shown to have a preference for strong woman, so it makes way more sense emotionally (for the audience) for her to ally with the Ironborn.
