Whites and blacks are so segregated in the US, with segregated residential lives, and damn near separate cultures, that something like big budget movie advertising doesn't even reach them. They hadn't even heard of the "white movies" Rock listed off, meaning that even their social lives are segregated to where movies that aren't predominantly black don't even make it into discussion in their social circles.
