You are 100% correct and that is why I didn't like it. It was also unfunny and contrived with useless side characters that are fairly interchangeable. And Baumbach denying his blatant Carax plagiarism (not even calling it homage) really left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm glad he went back to the funny with While We're Young and Mistress America. Those are FAR superior to Frances Ha.

I don't understand. The whole point of the Paris sequence is that it's mocking the character for following the cliche to go to Paris and find yourself. I mean she goes and has a terrible trip and just ends up wasting a lot of money. How can you be so thick as to misinterpret that scene?
