How the hell Whedon even got his Avengers gig? He only directed one movie before it, Serenity and it was a commercial failure, even his career as tv show runner pretty much ended at this point, because Dollhouse had neither the acclaim, nor ratings and Firefly and Buffy ended a long time ago at that point
