So, with the scores for Warcraft in the toilet, we're forced yet again to consider the idea that maybe vidya isn't for film.
Despite this, it seems like game devs are hell-bent on making their games more like films. The recent rise in story-driven games with painfully long cinematic cutscenes makes me think that devs are sick of being classified as "children's toys" and are making an effort to be taken seriously.
What do you think? Is it possible to make a good movie based on a video game, or does the lack of an interactive element rip away any entertainment value it could have?
Blizz has some of the best cinematics for their games. Almost every WoW cinematic is great to watch. It completely baffles me that they don't just make a movie or series of short films using this method.

Holy fuck, what the heck did FOx do with this movie? They had a sweet pace going on for something like one hour or so where they were slowly building up the story.
Suddenly, they decided to end it in under 20 minutes, dropping all plotlines and ending on a nonsensical note. I know they did some reshoot, but that can't be it, why did Fox decide to drop the entirety of the second half? It was far from being bad until then.

Barry Allen’s solo on-screen adventure is getting a tune-up. The popular DC Comics character The Flash will have Sundance darling Rick Famuyiwa now at its helm. According to two sources, the director of Dope is in negotiations to join the DC Comics multi-verse, helming his first big-production flick starring Ezra Miller as the titular hero.
The news comes just a little more than a month after DC and author Seth Grahame-Smith parted ways over what was to be Grahame-Smith’s directorial debut. After Warner Bros. fledgling subsidiary DC Films stumbled on Batman vs. Superman, it decided to take a closer look at who was in charge of each upcoming film.
Famuyiwa is no veteran to big-budget movies but he has made four films, including the 2015 Sundance darling Dope. His other credits include Brown Sugar, The Wood, and Our Family Wedding. He also co-wrote the 2007 film Talk to Me and most recently directed the HBO movie Confirmation, starring Kerry Washington as Anita Hill.
