it's the same story I've heard over and over, just with different words. When the were around, blank. Mizuki wasn't...well she hasn't really changed I'm pretty sure, but it's always the same. Mother left the castle and so did the dad, and not just to deal with "problems" like she does now...etc...etc.
My eye twitches, as I force my legs forward, as I head over to the door where the voices I've been following are coming from, and I realize they're not alex's...but I can hear dad's voice behind it. and Karla's.
Well, I can at least vent to these two...or just relax for a bit.
I smile and grab the handle with my three stumpy claws, struggling to pull it down for a second, before I manage to twist it open and step into the room.
"Oh, Iris" Dad says happily, laying on a couch, covered in blankets, her black hair hanging around in a mess, while Karla sits next to her, between her and that girl Mali dragged home, who looks pretty...well scared or confused out of her wits, it's hard to tell with her since she always looks a little bit...frightened.
Dad sits up, and pats her lap with a smile "Come on in and lay with us, it's been too long since you've sat in my lap"
"She's been watching her old shows again" Karla says flatly, her hair far messier than it usually is...guessing dad's been playing with her hair to mess with her "So she's a little excitable right now, and mom isn't here to"
"Distract her?" I ask as dad grins, and throws a pillow at me, licking her fangs happily, while Karla sighs and starts trying to get her hair under control.
"Can I go now?" Jenny asks meekly, obviously out of her place here...wonder why she's even here...even though I know the answer is dad wanted some company "I need to get to cleaning the"
She puffs her cheeks out, and scrunches her kind of piggish nose, as she tries to remember what she's was supposed to do precisely.
"the library!" She shouts, like she just killed a dragon, or won gold.

"Well, I'm going to have to remind her what she is and isn't allowed to do with the help later" My sister says softly, patting Jenny's head as she wipes tears from her eyes.

Why do people find concept of mmo-rpg setting so appealing? I've heard multiple horror stories about that guys running a game set in Overlord/SoA or whatever fotom anime uses this trope universe. Last week one one of my players who's kinda autistic announced that he'll be running a game like that. Why would anyone want to play preted about play pretend?

People make campaigns based on what they like and SoA/Overlord is popular at the moment
I think you have to differ.
Anime like Sword Art Online and Log Horizon are the ones that work with the "trapped in a MMO" even though they approach it differently.
Then there are stories like Overlord where the video game part is only a smaller part to have at least the main character from our world so people can relate to him and still have computer game based spells and specific terms, just because Japanese are sucker for stuff like that.
At least that is my interpretation.

Just don't play with edgy teenagers who think "demon blood" means they can make an anime character and you'll be fine.
I'm not really big on the whole "religious" aspects of demons and their powers, but I do find Tieflings make excellent "outcast" characters. Not the edgy super-badass loner types, but the types who end up becoming bandit or street thieves because society's distrust of them makes it impossible to earn a living any other way.

I like that there's an acknowledgement that half fiends can have kids. I dislike how they fail to acknowledge that there are more than fiends and angels crossed with humans out there and how at present there is nothing other than tieflings, if a fiend tainted bloodline can exist then there should also be one for everything else.
What's an average day like for the civilians of the various 40k factions?
Let's say for civilians living in the larger, safer settlements for their respective factions (think capital cities).

Livestock: 46 Murkhounds, 20 Clackers, 25 Centipedes
Bases: Sepulcher (Home), Reservoir, Abandoned Mansion, Industrial Outpost (joint Fungal operation)

The Sepulcher was abuzz with excitement at the new guests the tribe had taken in. Deep in the prison the four victims of the Ripper ghouls lay manacled wrist and ankle to the walls, hobgoblin Sentinels standing guard attentively. In Tatters and Dusts lab the corpses of the two strange undead were laid out on the blood-stained tables ready for inspection.
What drove the ferals into excited chattering was the strange new guest hiding in one of their storage rooms. Sweetie sits in a corner, slowly drawing fish, eels, and meat from jars and urns scattered around it. To Jaw and Dust's relief the mutated undead seemed content to stare at them as it feasted. Only tensing when Fist would bring in a new container of food, bones clicking rapidly in warning only to calm once the Enlightened stepped back out of the room.

Is the campaign over? Can you say for sure it'll never come back?
If so (and only if so) then yeah, it kinda sucks the dm ran outta time/juice/whatever and they need to improve.
Otherwise, shut up and wait. Ask the shopkeeper next time you're in town or something.

Naw. Campaign practically went out on a whimper. The DM ran out of railroad tracks for his campaign and left us hanging on a cliff, never even letting us know officially he couldn't continue the campaign because of writer's block. We put the pieces together when a few weeks later he asked if we wanted to do a new campaign.

Got a DM who can't think on his feet and rigidly sticks to the tracks in some of the most trivial ways while either hand-waving entire rolls if he's feeling passive or straight up ignoring stellar rolls that would result in having to change something.
