SoH newbie from the last thread. Curious if any other anons know good tactics or playstyles for SoH I should go for. 1d4chan is pretty vague about how to run them
Pic unrelated
Have had any bad RP experiences lately?
I've just had a moderately awful one.
>Group i used to play with invites me to a game
>GM gives me a bunch of info about the setting, "rules" (or lack thereof; basically just roll a D20 and the GM will tell you what happens) etc.
>There is three factions: Aboriginals, Settlers and Pirates
>The other players already have established characters, they all tend towards pirates, so i create a pirate character
>GM just wants 5 basic attributes and 2 Skills (no list or anything) from me
>Create character accordingly
>Actually kinda stoked
>Game begins, other players (i'm not in this yet) arrive at an island per ship
>Giant floating island above regular island
>Players go to regular island harbour
>it's a pirate shanty town
>I get introduced (after all the NPCs in the city)
>Group wants me to help them sell their ship (it was stolen or some shit)
>Finally get to play a little bit about 2 hours in
>Lead them to shipyard, negotiate with NPC for a bit
>GM: "The shipwright wants to see if you are pirate material"
cont
>>47977635
>Wants them to play some sort of minigame about drinking
>Excludes my character in favor of random NPCs
>Players win the game, get cheered on and are immediately accepted into pirate-dom
>Meanwhile, another player blows up half the city because someone grifted him.
>Pirates think it's hilarious, give him gifts etc.
>At this point (about 3 hours into the game) GM points out that the pirates already respect "the new guys" better than my character
>Didn't have opportunity to do anything really, but whatever
>Pirates invite party to drink at the local inn, a big-shot wants to talk to them
>I can come too
>Big-shot tells players about a huge shipment of supplies that is going to the "cloud city" (apparently there is a city on the floating island)
>Players start planning the "raid" (for about another 2 hours)
>GM plays big-shot, actually takes part in the planning as if he were a player
>whenever i interject, get a snarky comment about what a shitty pirate i am and how i never pull my weight around here anyway
>never stated anything of the sorts in my char description, but whatever
>one of the players often pulls the other players aside (not me) because he wants to talk "without the pirates"
>fine
cont
>>47977662
>initial plan is ready to go after hours of sitting at the table, imagining to sit at a table
>me and priest kinda dude will go talk to the Aboriginals of the island, other 2 will go into the cloud city and scout it out
>fine by me, maybe i'll even get to do something for once
>cloud city team just dicks around and kills a few guards and returns whithout having really accomplished anything
>my team encounters a couple of abos on the way
>they are magical telepaths
>don't talk, can't speak to them without magic
>only priest dude can talk to them
>getting kinda pissed at this point
>abos lead us to abo camp
>head-abo can speak our language, thankfully
>GM constantly points out how super duper powerful the aboriginals are
>"They are so much above you guys, you don't even realize" were his words i believe
>Being a dirty drunken pirate, i somehow manage to offend the enlightened abo leader by merely existing
>entire table glares at me
>priest dude manages to mend the situation by means of flowery hippie bullshit
>head abo agrees to help us on the day of the raid, but only because he was gonna do that anyway
>doesn't tell us what "that" is (it will be important later)
>return to pirate town
cont
>>47977691
>more planning
>need to get into the cloud city and hijack artillery and battle airship in order to intercept supply convoy
>get partnered up with another player (he is actually my favorite out of the bunch, so i'm hopeful) to hijack artillery on the eastern side of the city
>others will take the airship (priest dude and the guy who likes to blow up stuff)
>talk to partner, actually come up with a decent way of getting the artillery
>we will release poison gas in the eastern barracks at night, and then use the hijacked artillery to destroy the only bridge to the rest of the city
>actually works out well, GM basically lets us do it
>the other team now starts dicking around with the airship, shooting around and shit
>GM smirks
>"At that moment, the aboriginals, that were hidden all over the city appear and start wrecking shit"
>city gets ransacked by "peace loving" forest dwellers
>GM describes them as basically godlike, creating storms out of nowhere, floating around, raining meteors down on the unsuspecting citizens, etc.
>Team airship arrives to pick us up
>GM says that a huge portion of the floating island is starting to rumble and shake
cont
I don't actually want a general, but people only seem to click on those
So lately a friend has been thinking of running a game of AdEva for his meatspace gaming group and he's been bouncing ideas off of me for how to turn hisfanfictioninto an game that takes place 30 years or so after the end of the show (presumably no one becomes tang), as well as reminding me about all of Evangelion's DEEPEST LORE. It's giving me a few game ideas.
I made a similar thread yesterday, but this time I want to more explicitly have a thread for talking about how to use Eva as inspiration, or even for AdEva game ideas.
Also, he finally made me decide to watch Eva again. I remember being disappointed after reading about supplementary stuff on Wikipedia and EvaGeeks, but the show still has its moments. I like the Rebuilds more, though I don't know if I'd have liked them at all if I hadn't first seen the show.
3.33 is also finally outdubbed.
Well, this didn't go over well.

Don't forget the most interesting thing from the manga!
I have a question for you, who the hell has a real life gaming group like the one on the web rpg show critical role? All the guys including the dm are either cool, charming, non autistic, and look like they regularly see a salon. And all the girls (assuming you're lucky enough to even have any girls in your group) look like underwear models or actresses. I love this show but at the same time I'm sort of mad resentful that I never had, or ever will have a group half as cool.
It is frustrating, but they are reasonably successful adults who have found a way to do this. It requires discipline, self control, existing funds, social contacts and hell of a lot of luck.
>>47964128
so its basicaly outside the real of possibility for any normal nerd. Figured.
>>47964223
No, but it will take 1-3 years of dedicated work to pull off. These guys didn't just plop a camera on their table and play their normal game. You have to really want it and work towards that goal.
Things that make you unreasonably or unproportionally angry.

Nailed it.
Also, spaghetti dice. If you can't roll dice like a normal person, get a Yahtzee cup or some shit.
What's all the hype for, /tg/? Only game I never see you not praising.
>>47941855
I guess it's just a pretty decent system all round for what it sets out to do. I mean, it's pretty uncontroversial
Solid game with some awesome setting books. Just simply not enough to bitch and moan about on /tg/
Savage Rifts players guide came out to backers yesterday, looks like they did a really good job with it so far.

I don't like it, but I've got better things to do in life than rail against systems I didn't care for. Play what you you like.

How do regular space marines even compete with chaos marines?
>10,000 years of combat experience (Not including Warp time which can add up)
>Mutations
>Blessings and powers from chaos gods
Could someone explain to me?
>>47980985
>Company who favors the good guy heroes over the bad guy villains
When you have that, no force of Chaos stands a chance
>>47980985
Plot Armor and numbers mainly.
That and even CSM will die if you shoot them enough.
>>47980985
They didn't actually live for 10,000 years because there is no time in the warp.
Powerful mutants like spawn have to be dealt with by heavy firepower or tanks, and powerfully blessed champions are few and far in between and can be met by similarly skilled loyalist champions.
Shinobi Quest #18
This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.
(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Tsuki Norihime, along with Itachi and Lee, took on the Samurai, Yojimbo, and emerged victorious. After looting the bodies of the other Samurai, the party met up near the exit, with the others looking a little worse for wear. With everyone, including the Mayor of Reisui Village, the two teams headed back to town to negotiate payment.
We rejoin the team as they arrive at the gates of Yugakure...

>Question
When is your next game?
Why is Chronicles so much shittier than WoD?
I mean, the original line was so much more popular that they not only made both video games based on it, but then they also just cucked Chronicles out of even using WoD in its title, because it's still the more popular today.
Is it the fact that Chronicles doesn't have an interesting setting, is it its focus on being a whiny bitch, is it a higher degree of SJWism? Please explain.
>>47977887
I.. have to admit. This is good trolling. It makes me annoyed, even at the same time I know it's trolling.
8/10.
But now that we are past that, let's actually have a discussion. Feeding the trolls is the only way these threads grow.
1) They didn't "cuck out". It was a decision, that none of the CofD people were involved in, and it was based on not mixing shit up. (What exactly does "cuck out" mean in this context? Who is their wife, and who is fucking it?)
2) The setting isn't any less interesting. It's more modular, yes, but it is also free of Malkavian Pranksters and things like Samuel Haight.
3) Oh please. Whiny Bitch? Compared to games who were released during the height of the emo era?
4) Higher degree of SJWism? The only reason the term SJW wasn't applied to old WW games is that it wasn't invented back then.
>>47977887
This stupid line of complaints forgets that the entire industry hit a massive slump in the mid-2000s and only the switch to digital distribution/Print on Demand pulled things out of that downward spiral. Hell, compare the volume of D&D 3.5 books to the 5e books.
Also, there are many good CofD lines while most of WoD reads like bad parody/satire.
>Minutes before gluing the ceilings for added realism
>DM spends a long time wheeling this in and putting it on the table
>"We leave the dungeon."
>Four found dead in local man's basement, more at eleven
>>47977272
How long until some autist flips his shit and destroys it during a game?
>>47977334
>implying you'll ever come to touch it
>wizard, here are hundreds of fun and interesting spells to choose from!
>cleric, you have a d8 HD, wear heavy armor, and can buff yourself to be a melee god!
>fighter, here's a +1 bonus on attack rolls with one specific kind of weapon.
Do you know why I hate D&D, anon? It's because I wasted so much of my fucking life grappling with the system, house ruling it into a semblance of Not Fucking Shit, when I could have been fun gaming with another system. Except there wasn't another system, because the shitwaste nerds love Pathfinder and refuse to try a system that isn't garbage.
>inb4 u mad bro
Yes. D&D is a shitty system, and it's a cancer infecting the hobby.
What do you expect to achieve here? Nobody who sees or responds to this will undergo some moment of revelation and renounce their opinions - people will either post here to agree or disagree, and any actual chance of convincing people will be shouted down in a storm of shitposting. We've all gone through this song and dance so many times, and yet here we all are.
>>47975691
Man, every day. You really are Virt, aren't you?
>>47975754
It's eternally triggered bitch-anon. He lives his life from one triggered episode to the next.
He goes to a D&D board in order to get enraged about D&D, because rage is the only emotion he has left other than sadness.

They were really good value back before they got nerfed and made unable to cross over mountainous terrain anymore.
They were OP anyway, you plebeian. Hannibal is the worst meme general.
In conclusion, Carthago delenda est.
Why isn't there a Magic Movie, yet?
>we got a shit ton of lore
>we got character people can identify with
>we got the bad guys
>we got vampires/werewolfs
>we got the young kid that got bullied and then got trained
>we got angels
>we got magic
>we got love
>we got overcoming the bad guys with the power of friendship
>we got the wise mentor
>>47971136
Because no matter how popular you think Magic is, it's still the realm of nerds, freaks and society's outliers.
We're talking about a game so isolated from the mainstream that the developers think marketing towards SJWs and Autists is a viable market strategy.
>>47971136
Because normies would think
>oh, they're making a movie about that nerd card game, it's going to be a piece of shit made by losers for losers
>>47971171
As someone that plays MtG, I'm confident that it would be a piece of shit made by losers for losers. For reference, think of every video game movie ever made ever. With the exception of the Super Mario Bros movie, they're literally all trash. Why would MtG be any different?
Hey /tg/,
I went over to a friends house and discovered his brother has been obsessively writting this stuff on everything. Looks like something out of call of cthulu.
His brother isn't available for questioning, he is away now, probably busy with some sort of occult activity. He is a very private person and wouldn't be willing to explain anyway.
/tg/, you are the only people I have to turn to and I figure you guys might be experts on this. What is this stuff?
