Is there a cyberpunk fantasy game out there that doesn't have the ridiculous bookkeeping and character mastery of Shadowrun? There's 0 chance I'll be able to keep some of my current players interested in SR because of these factors, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Most of the answers you get won't be satisfying. I would recommend Savage Worlds with a combo of fantasy and scifi splatbooks combined however fits best for your group.

GURPS

Nah just kidding I love GURPS but it probably rivals Shadowrun in terms of bookkeeping

I second Savage Worlds and just combine stuff from the fantasy and scifi books. Savage worlds is really rules-lite.

I've been lurking for quite a while, yet there are some things about this board and it's subgroups that still remain unanswered.
Mostly because these things are too overwhelming to really get into.
So, answer me /tg/, what's the deal with:

>GRUPS-fags? What is grups like, who does it appeal to and why do these people keep suggesting it everywhere?
>40k? It's such a huge part of this board and all I can see is very grimdark lore, a number-crunching game and huge money sinks. What am I missing? Why does it have so many fans?
>CYOA-threads? What do you do with those? Lot's of charts to make characters or stuff for.... What exactly?

I'm honestly, honestly not trying to flame a huge shitstorm. I don't want to hear people talking shit about other peoples interests, I'm just wondering what makes them interesting

GURPS is a simple system that has splatbooks for pretty much any setting you could want to run a game in, it's advantage is in having one single system for every setting, but this is also why it sucks.

40k is the reason /tg/ exists, we were created to get the warhams threads out of /b/.

CYOAs are cancer, they serve no purpose and belong on another board.
>>
40k has so many fans because it's been around for quite a while, resulting in a "famous for being famous" (or in this case, popular for being popular) kind of deal.

A lot of people already play it. It is likely that newcomers to the hobby will get introduced to it through 40k, and the fact that there are many players also affects that people are more inclined to pick it up over other games in the genre.

Whatever happened here, it is pretty damn confusing. Overlord? Weird creatures? You must still be dreaming or something. The creature seems to notice your confusion, so it explains.
>You were an evil overlord decades ago. You ruled these lands, until some so-called heroes stepped in here and decided to overthrow you. They ruined the castle, slaughtered your subordinates and in the end slew you. But now you're back. Back to bring these lands back under your rule.
You seem to have drunk massively before going to bed. There is no other explanation for this.

On one side, you brought this entirely on yourself. On the other, it was for your friends' sake so you can't really say it wasn't worth it. Besides, it's just one day of being a pretend familiar, Astreya doesn't really have any actual magical power over you or anything, you're not even a demon (being half of it doesn't count, right?).

Still, she's probably so used to having had the same familiar for all these years that she can't quite really realize she's giving plenty of things for granted. Like the fact that you know where her stuff is.

Because you don't. Her house is deceptively small, but damn it's hard to find anything in there. The fact that she's tremendously messy doesn't help either. You can't help but wonder where that damn book might be, you're quite certain you've looked everywhere you could short of starting to turn the furniture over. And the worst part is that you suspect it might have worked.

Regardless, you have another apparently simple task: to find someone in town who knows anything about oils or other compounds useful to prevent the premature rusting of iron, since the tropical weather is quite inclement to that material. Astreya doesn't seem to be particularly affected herself as her only reasons for concern are pieces of jewelry, but you can guess how it could be a problem, especially when iron is being used to build. It could be a problem if all nailed boards were to warp and come off just because the builders didn't take the local weather into account.

Well, while you suspect almost nobody is actually used to tropical weathers around here, you don't think everyone is completely clueless on the topic. There are other similar climates in the known world, plus the Shadow Marches were already colonized some time ago.

>Go see Luna. She's an architect, she might know something.
>Go see Agnes. She wears iron, she has to know something.
>Go ask the local artisans. You're certain they've faced the problem already.
>Other?

I agree. Granted, there are in-universe explanations for why they always exhibit the negative aspects of their emotional purviews and never the positive ones but it does sap a lot of nuance from them as characters.

Alright, /tg/

A 12th level Wizard has been given a quest to cause as much destruction as possible. Assuming that the wizard has access to any spell or feat, and that items that need purchasing can be purchased. The obvious answer is considering just raising an undead army, but the wizard is more enamored with the idea of doing the damage personally.

The actual mechanics of the spells are somewhat important, since there will likely be a chase scene with the party running away from these damaging effects. Before I go to the standard fireball and summons route, is there any way to spice this encounter up some more?

Apocalypse from the sky in book of vile darkness(3.5) does 10d6 fire, acid or sonic damage (caster picks) to everything in 10 miles per caster level. It is a 9th level spell, but they can use a scroll. It takes a day to cast and caster also takes the damage.
>>
>>43908303
You can't make scrolls of epic spells, AFAIK.
>>
>>43907853
IIRC there was some combo with weather control and summoning snow that would drop hundred ft of snow on area of several square miles in a matter of minutes - but I don't recall the detail and it might actually have been a Druid thing.

Why doesn't /tg/ like feys?
In the tales I was taught, feys like to make human dance to death (or at least make them skip some years doing so) but that's pretty much all of it. Distracting them with riddles is enough to calm them until the sun rises again.
And if you bring drinks, treats or something they'll party less hard.
Of course you shouldn't eat food from them until you're in the human realm and not at night. But I'm told most of the fair folk are beneficial.

I'm from brittany, is your folklore just different or are you just hating on the fair folk?

Why not enjoy a party with the korrigans instead of warding them with nails?

Help me out here /tg/. I want to play a pnp rpg today, I don't care which one. I just need a group. I checked Roll 20, applied to the games that weren't already full, which was only 1, and that one should have started an hour ago, no word from the one who posted the campaign.

I know there are others on here with free time on Mondays, so if you want to start a campaign post in this thread.

TLDR; Post here if you want to start a Roll20 Monday campaign.
