Today looks boring, so how about something related to two boring players?
Two years ago, the two men in this picture were ranked World Number 5 and World Number 8 respectively. One of them had made the quarter-finals of ten consecutive ranking majors, while the other had reached the eighth major semi-final of his career.
A year ago, both players had slipped down the rankings but were still comfortably in the top 16 in the world. One had a poor 2014, failing to get past the last 16 of any major, but the other made the quarters of the worlds and another place in the last 4 of a major.
Now, both players are at risk of losing their top 32 status altogether after a shocking year with no major appearances for either player before the Worlds since July, when one of them bent over and got pegged by Taylor, as is common practice for him.
The speed of the career collapses of Andy Hamilton and Wes Newton are shocking to say the least. From their games we've seen at these Worlds, neither player looks comfortable with how they're playing: there's been no heavy scoring, there's been no positive consistency in their scoring and their finishing has been atrocious. With 2015 Pro Tour earnings of just £12,750 for Hammer and £10,000 for Warrior - both comfortably outside the Pro Tour Top 32 - it will take something remarkable for either player to reclaim those heady days of 2013.
Or they can pack in the professional game and piss off to the BDO. Nobody would miss them.
