Post your 4chan happenings
Previous Thread >>518358
first for happenings
/mu/ is still going crazy over Radiohead
>>524597
to the point that people are still making threads about it even with the sticky
also how is the sticky not on the front page as a popular thread?
Today, somebody made a new thread for the 4chan happenings on /qa/. I lost the link though.
Battle of the Nations threads reportedly spotted on:
>/pol/
>/int/
>/tv/
>/sp/
Board culture lads tell them to fuck off, but the one on /sp/ seems to stick
>>524682
>there are people on this website right now who think a subject can only be covered by a single board and only one
Literally redchanit
>>524685
forgot tumblr and 9gag in that m8
>>524685
I'm not complaining, just the confusion is mildly amusing. /sp/ says /asp/ or /tv/, /tv/ is scruffied by lvl 90 scruffy, /asp/ too busy wanking at man drama, /pol/ spouts memes and /int/ is squirting liquid hate towards anyone whose flag they don't like.
In other news, the sky is blue.
>>524712
>liquid hate
*bantz
>>524712
Tbh the /sp/, /int/ and /pol/ threads were fine
We even had two of the competitors join us

SO IS THIS BOARD!
WOAH SPOOKY
/o/ is getting shat up again, but that's basically a weekly occurrence by now

On /mlp/ a happening is like Slice of Life, or Faust's visit or those times that something happened that caused our posts per second to surpass /a/
>>525176
>2013
I'm curious, does Faust still visit that place from time to time?
>>525194
Not very often and she never publicises it. She has stated in an interview (there are many, so I won't even try to find it) that she doesn't watch the show anymore, so when she comes here, she rarely has any idea what we are talking about.
>>525052
REBLOGGED!
>>524712
>/int/ is squirting liquid hate towards anyone whose flag they don't like
I don't think anyone dislikes anyone on /int/. It's all bantz.
>>525384
Unless you're Australian.
>>525387
I've never encountered hate to or from Australia. Then again, I've never been to /int/
>>525389
>>525387
No one really hates Australians, most tolerate their shitposting if it doesn't completely cover the board.
/int/ has everything countrywise, from serious threads about happenings, to comfy threads about inter-country feels, to just straight bantering. No one is actually racist there, even the /pol/ cross-boarders just keep it over there, and even if someone were to act racist, you wouldn't know as people would just take it as banter and just throw some back.
Of course, some nations tend to take jokes better than others, but that's all part of the fun.
>>525194
>>525199
HN: This is the question we HAVE to ask, do you still lurk 4chan, or any other inappropriate venue?
LF: [laughter] Inappropriate venue – certainly not as much as I used to, because...I just don't lurk around as much as I used to anyway. I've just kinda gone on and moved on to other things. I'll pop onto 4chan every once in a while. It's hard now to because everyone's talking about the current show, and I don't know anything about it

You keep saying that but got proven wrong long time ago.
Alright so Battle of the Nations concluded. Russia pretty much dominated, but man it was ridiculously fun.
Need to thank that anon again for posting about it here, wouldn't have at all known otherwise and even if I saw it in the catalog I probably wouldn't have paid attention

>>526453
3 years ago it was still bad
>>526456
because of a multitude of things, anti-Death Grips memers being one of them. they make far more shitpost/bait threads than actual fans of them do.
>>526457
I'd love an example of that, because Death Grips has brought in the worst of underaged people to the board, and their ironic memery is what is actually killing the board. Since they became popular, there has been a noticeable decline in post quality as well.
>>526459
>>>/mu/64754325
also I'm gonna need some actual evidence to back that up
>>526464
>tfw I'm the guy who posted that
that was actually due to people on the subreddit literally raiding the general though. as in, the subreddit's mod was having yet another spergout as he tends to do and saw that people in /dgg/ were shitting on him for being retarded and decided to 'casually' mention it by stickying a post where he wined about it in all caps.

Anyone else seeing posts get through and instantly marked as "deleted" despite it not being the case?
Here's just one example, I've had it happen to a few of mine and it confused me
>>526995
I have only seen that happen in rolling sticky threads.
>>526995
this happens to me sometimes as well. they typically come back as if they had never been deleted after somebody else responds to the same thread.
/trash/ must be the stupidest board we have.
There is no reason for it to exist and it's actually splitting up the community. It was a mistake.
>>527205
There is one reason for it to exist: The ERP thread.
Point me to any other board on this site that has an ERP thread. Yeah, I thought not.
>>527206
The ERP threads are a joke filled with shitposting, there are plenty of other communities with higher quality. The content of those threads reflects the quality of the board. Containment boards are never a good thing.
>>527206
>one thread justifies a board
Literally whose idea even was it to make a board just called trash and let people post whatever shit there. It makes little sense and the fact it's splitting up the community further is what really irks me because people just make threads for their shit there since it's a dumping board for anything you want
Bloody stupid board.
>>527205

>chill people
aka underaged shitposters
/b/ should have been the one and only "introductory" and random board for this site at its current state. /trash/ is at its heart a containment board, concentrating cancer and inviting outside retards in so they can slowly integrate into other boards. The "intent" to allow for off topic threads to stay up if they have potential seems hardly relevant at all, seeing as /trash/ is just an even shittier /b/ and mods/janitors just delete off topic threads from boards regardless. And from my observation, it seems the only boards they're even moving there are shitty ones, while they just delete the ones with potential. The shitty hunger games threads are just generals where people jerk off and roleplay.
>>527358
>"introductory"
it's hidden you mong
>/trash/ is just an even shittier /b/
except it's not, it's comfy as fuck and allows stuff that /b/ doesn't allow
>>527360
>it's hidden you mong
Not when people post ">>>/trash/" everywhere. The site's not what it used to be and nor is its community, newfags can find it.
>it's comfy as fuck
Same old ironic shitposting cancer
>and allows stuff that /b/ doesn't allow
What? Ponyfucker shit? And like I said, the hunger games threads are just circlejerk generals for roleplayers. The threads we used to have on appropriate boards at least had some kind of quality.
>>527364
>Not when people post ">>>/trash/" everywhere. The site's not what it used to be and nor is its community, newfags can find it.
yes, newfags can find it after lurking for a bit and somebody happening to link it (which rarely happens.) surely that makes it an introductory board.
>Same old ironic shitposting cancer
except it's not ironic in any way. what makes it so comfy is that the board has no standards and is completely genuine. anything goes.
>What? Ponyfucker shit?
that and furshit, which has the effect of bringing a bunch of people into crazy shit shunned elsewhere (even on boards like /d/ and /aco/) into one place, which when combined with the lack of standards means you can find discussion on the most niche shit better than you could even on /d/ before it got fucked over.
>And like I said, the hunger games threads are just circlejerk generals for roleplayers.
once again, unironic, and it also takes up maybe 10% of the board at most
>The threads we used to have on appropriate boards at least had some kind of quality.
not sure what this has to do with anything
I don't remember a thread on /f/ getting this many replies ever.

I think this anon is right. Is the absolute best board to ever exist. You can post lots upon lots of furry and mlp porn, and lots of people will join and fap together to the same shit. And the rest of people can mock them and point and laugh because they're literally liking and eating garbage.
Also, being a "hidden" board, it means 4chan as a whole is so ashamed of them, they prefer to keep them hidden back on the yard.
Is fucking perfect!
>>527384
>using threads on /f/ except to ask for sauce

THIS ANON IS DEFIANTLY A MOTH
/mlp/ is for some reason convinced that all shitposts are legal for 24 hours. It's cancer over there, but janitors aren't touching it. Who knows, maybe there really is a purge.
pic related, every /mlp/ user right now
>>528006
they are probably just bored, you know how shitty the board becomes when there is nothing fun going on
>>528006
Okay. Somebody please explain what started this. I haven't seen /mlp/ this bad in all my years on 4chan. There are porn threads, shitposting threads, at least one literal shit post thread and plans to raid other boards. What the fuck?
>inb4 newfag
>>528026
see >>528015
if you go to the catalog anytime and sort the threads by creation date you will see how almost every single one of them is a shitposting thread that dies with less than 10 posts, you usually don't see them much on the front page because generals bury them, working as a filter where only interesting (or really clickbaity) threads survive, mods don't really care much about being strict so they usually just ignore most shit save from special cases like spam and porn, unless there is some big happening i am not aware of and/or the drama queens aren't full of shit things will probably go back to normal in a few hours
>>528026
pretty sure some autistic anon paid attention to what hours the board goes unmoderated (figuring out scruffy's sleep schedule), then started spamming shit everywhere about 24 hours of legal shitposting, about an hour after they calculated the janitor should be asleep. People tried it, their posts weren't deleted instantly (because mod is asleep), and here we are.

>>>/co/82674946
>>528053
>batman rape meme
Uh, what? Context?
>>528031
/mlp/ users are worryingly smart. But what's more concerning is that there's apparently only one fucking janitor on the board if figuring out one person's sleep schedule is enough to fuck it up. Are we really that understaffed?
>>528055
this one meme that recently got popular on /co/, some guy started making threads with pictures of Commissioner Gordon from BTAS asking Batman why doesn't he just rape the Joker, things escalated and we ended with gems like pic related
>>528057
>/mlp/ users are worryingly smart
Wouldn't call them smart, self aware? Maybe but not smart
>Are we really that understaffed?
Yes, its actually really fortunate that the users don't abuse their freedom so much
>>528057
>There's apparently only one fucking janitor on the board
By my count, there's 2 janitors and 1 moderator
and Moot
, but with how infrequently they (usually) delete stuff, they are treated as one person (we call him Scruffy, do other boards name their janitors/mods?)
>>528063
>>/mlp/ users are worryingly smart
>Wouldn't call them smart, self aware? Maybe but not smart
While /mlp/ probably isn't the best display of this, several studies have shown that bronies tend to have higher than average intelligence.
Before you misinterpret that, I'm not saying MLP makes you smart, I'm saying that being smart seems to make you more likely to enjoy MLP.
>>528068
Oh. No spoilers here. I suppose that makes sense. I evidently need to visit other boards more often.
>>528069
Yeah, rule of thumb: If there's no button for spoiler images, there's no spoiler tag on the board.
>>528068
>While /mlp/ probably isn't the best display of this, several studies have shown that bronies tend to have higher than average intelligence.
That's kind of hilarious if true. Got a source for this?
>>528068
>do other boards name their janitors/mods
on /nba/, we found out who the janitor was as he was causing a shitstorm by only deleting certain shitposters, so he was complained about on /qa/ and got put on probation. whilst on probation, he stopped being a huge cunt (he still couldn't officially even imply he was the janny, but we knew), and now he has his privileges back and he's been absolutely amazing as a janitor, couldn't ask for more. the general calls him hans as he's german.
and of course you also have swaglord who does what he fucking wants, the absolute madman, but he's too crazy for me to describe
>>528073

The first amendment doesn't apply to private entities. It's purely protection from the government. 4chan can censor whatever they like. If Hiro decides you can't talk about kittens on 4chan then you can't talk about kittens.
So no, the first amendment wouldn't override 4chan rules.

>>531614
And this is why this site is shit, rulefags browsing hilarious screencaps on r/4chan flock here and become fucking janitors
>>531618

>>531620
>4chan never had any rules! Fuck the mods, I've been here for longer than them! 4chan is dead, come to 8gag you gaise!
>>531618
well why is it retarded? those rules come with posting on this site. if you dislike the rules, and the mods refuse to repeal them, then don't post on the site. why doesn't he know what he's talking about? why is it a pseudo argument? there's no obligation to post here, you lose nothing by not doing so, all the mods can do is either ban you, or delete your posts
how is this such a ridiculous sentiment?
>>531626
>please let the community shitpost however and whenever they want
That's not what's being said at all
>>531628
>well why is it retarded?
Because when somebody is a part of a community and has been for years, they're going to be fucking concerned when those in charge are fucking things up. Why should they just leave a place that they enjoy going to and a community they're invested in? We're not even discussing "the rules", we're discussing the laziness and idiocy of the janitors, who are deleting threads when they shouldn't and who AREN'T going by the rules. It isn't strange to be upset at the moderation team of this site working actively to turn it into something that the community does not want. It's a pseudo-argument because its a shitty cop-out that every "content" asshat uses against people who bring up a problem they don't care about, regardless of the context.
You people who like to name-call anyone who calls out the moderation team on its bullshit need to take a look at what 4chan actually is and why its community is here and not somewhere else. We're not rapid ironic shitposters.
>>531635
>when somebody is part of a community

>and has been for years
nah you haven't don't kid yourself mate
>>531640
Great argument. You've just cemented my point that you have no idea what you're talking about. A community is a community. We have common interests and styles pertaining to the ways we think and post and have standards with regards to the above, just like everywhere else. You don't want shitposters all over the place do you? Then you care about the community too. Don't be stupid - think about what you're saying. By your logic, since it's "just an anime imageboard" and caring about standards doesn't matter, the types of people you were complaining about (those who want no rules at all) are in the right. You're contradicting yourself.
>>531647
this is no we you autist, get it into your head, you getting banned for stuff that was probably understandable does not mean the poor community being persecuted oh woes :'( it's just you getting bitter and whiny k
the mod team do what they think is best for the site and if you think it's wrong try and explain why to them or find a different site
and no crying on /qa/ about getting your thread deleted is not explaining your point of view k that's shitposting and no one likes that
>>531657
Once again, you don't have any argument but to assume that I'm a ban worthy shitposter. Good job.
>the mod team do what they think is best for the site
Like deleting an on-topic thread instead of cleaning it of a couple of shitposters? Or making sure that /x/ stays as low quality as possible with no actual written rules? Or refusing to acknowledge the /aco/ and /d/ debacle people have continually complained about and that has an easy fix? Or throwing out warnings for shitposting but three day bans for dissenting opinion, regardless of how civil or on topic to the board it is, and for copyrighted images that nobody can possibly know are copyrighted or not?
>and no crying on /qa/
I joined the discussion because you made a stupid point. And where else can anyone communicate with the moderation team and know that they're reading (they know Hiro reads here, and they know the moderation team has taken into account some of the opinions here)? That's another flaw right there. That's why there here. I'm not saying it's right, but its not unjustified. Meanwhile you continually show that you don't actually care about the site you're posting on, and have no proper rebuttals to the points being raised.
>about getting your thread

my point was, if you don't like something stop using it, but you started crying that the mod team should bend over backwards to suit your demands for how you think the site should be run, and couldn't possibly never ever just not use it if you don't enjoy it
no one cares about the 'community' get your head out of your arse you're whining about persecution on a fucking anime forum, I'm tired of seeing 20 threads every fucking day crying about mods deleting their posts or banning them for totally not shitposting no no no I dindo nuffin please just stop with this, you can go cry on the irc or Twitter, or even try personal emails, they do respond. who fucking cares, at the end of the day, if the poor fragile :''( 4chan community loses a beautiful poster such as yourself :'(, seriously you can fuck right off, I'd rather this place lost a few posters anyway

No, because you've long abandoned your cop-out of "just leave!" after I addressed it and have resorted to assumptions and name calling. Not that you ever had any points to your so-called "argument" anyway.
>Although admittedly I'm not going through all of yours
That's clearly evident since you're still yelling literally the same things, and since you still aren't addressing any of my actual points, instead preferring to twist my words into cop-out assumptions that don't actually correspond.
>>531771

Warosu is down again. Anyone know if there is a back up archive or when it should come back?
The "everything must be a general" mindset seems to be increasingly more prevalent on /co/. Just seems to be more and more threads with people sticking General at the end of teh subject without having an actual topic.
This being for shows that don't even usually have a general either and I've seen a few posts asking why there isn't a general for X or Y.
It's a shame, I honestly find it to be quite a cancerous mindset. Generals aren't inherently bad, but everyone knows what they usually end up as being and it'd be nicer if people made threads when they had an actual topic or point of discussion rather than "there just needs to be one lol".
That said, janitor on /co/ is far less likely to delete your thread if it's a general than if you have some humorous comment instead so the mods on /co/ aren't helping at all

A happening is something that you can pinpoint and link to, not a generic shift in board culture.
>It's interesting discussion.
Then why not make a different thread for it instead of posting it in a thread that's about something else altogether.
>>532523
I consider it a slow happening. It at least relates to something going on on a board, whereas a lot of posts in these threads tend to be arguing some point or another

True, but I think we would have a lot less arguing if people stopped posting about generic "happenings" that are mostly just excuses to complain about things they don't like, like that post or >>531375 .
The whole board is full of people complaining about mods, jannys and other users. Can't we have a single thread that isn't about that?
>>532527
>But people are allowed to discuss anything they feel qualifies as a happening and you're in no place to disagree with them.
People are allowed to discuss whatever they want. But that doesn't make any random (and partly subjective) post about generic things into a happening.
And I see no reason to discuss that in this thread. As I said, /qa/ is full of threads complaining about things like that. Why bring it here as well?

They got him on the horn and he communicated that he was going to go back with (more) firepower, backup (including his dad), and video recording equipment this summer. There was a lot of scouring satellite imagery and geophysical examination of the area and whatnot. Interest kind of died a couple weeks ago, but maybe something will crop up over summer.

>>534310
I didn't complain and I didn't make a thread about it on this board complaining about it I'm just pointing out how often people are doing it now and it's only getting more popular.
I think it is the natural response to where someone replies to a post with nothing but "underrated"
They think a post is rated by how many responses it gets, meaning a KEK OMG LOL response is an upvote. Thus, if a post does not have enough replies and they want someone that quickly browses a thread like them (rather than reading the whole thing) to see it, they reply "underrated" to make sure that people read it. Then the people that read it reply "kek" and it goes on from there
My opinion is that the people who think 4chan is supposed to be hilarious screencaps of stupid posts they have seen on other sites think it is their duty to look for the funny post and reply with something pointless, no matter how many other people have already said the exact same thing.
No I'm not sober, yes I way over thought this please don't respond I'm going to go to bed
>>534306
That's why I only respond "This is bait" to posts that aren't getting a lot of attention. If it is bait, I didn't type much, and if it's not, then I just called a stupid person stupid and can call it a day. I win either way.
>>534318
>From what I've seen, we are doing a pretty good job of ignoring them
its not like the board doesn't have morons who take the bait, its just that, shitposting or not, your thread will never survive unless its either funny or interesting, without consistency and context these jokes just die of irrelevance really quickly
>>534335
Don't do this, just ignore, i've seem generals where any post filled with ignorance (and i mean red flags, small details or stupid questions that make you question if the post is legit or not through common sense) is instantly ignored while people just move on with the thread, this cold shoulder strategy works like a fucking charm because if the person is baiting she gets nothing, if she isn't baiting the lack of feedback will make her thing she said something stupid and (hopefully) hold back for a while, maybe even lurk instead of posting at all, if morons are going to take the bait or not let them act like retards on their own, after all everyday is someone's first day here
There was a thread on /g/ on the topic of shilling, and how people are paid to shill products across the internet, including 4chan.
OP claimed to be among those and shed some light on how it all works. If you browse /g/ at all, you'd know it isn't far fetched made up bullshit. 4chan isn't muh sekit club and is honestly pretty mainstream, so shilling here actually isn't something bizarre. It's not some obscure forum and whilst you may think /g/ is a bit of a slow board, there's always anons asking for purchase advice.
https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/g/thread/S54597043
This is the thread, it was interesting. Some people were chiming in with patterns they've seen and there was some decent discussion and the thread lasted a few days.
It looks like it's ended up deleted now though, which makes little sense to me.. Not only was it related to the board, but I think it was actually technology related too, so had no real reason to go.
Whilst this part is admittedly pretty conspiracy theorist of me, it wouldn't be crazy to think a janitor or two is in on it.
>inb4 some shill/retard denies it all
>>534431
meh, don't see the point of big companies coming here unless its one of the big boards where people will actually pay for the product, indies and small companies? >>534431

The downside is the ton of writeshit generals, which in themselves act as quality control (bad threads get pushed behind them in the catalog and ignored), but occaisionally something good comes from them. The truth is that pony is overrated and its fandom is no worse than any other cartoon fandom out there, its size and impact were a matter of being at the right place at the right time rather than quality alone or some other kind of "secret ingredient" people claim to exist, and in a sane world it would never have grow so much.
As for all the disgusting shit you just stop giving a fuck after a while, because you realize that regardless of the format its just another demonstration of passion, you grow to see past the cringe and notice the amount of effort and love some people put into their cum jars and fanfics about cock vore and cheese graters.
Truth is, as long as you know its cringe and don't act like a fag about it, as long as you know when to hide your power level because you know that's fucking disgusting and keep it inside your own circle, you shouldn't need to worry so much, because at the end of the day you will still be two clicks away from threads about penis mutilation, degenerate circlejerks, nazi propaganda and homicidal outbursts, with people who think they are on some high ground because "hey, at least we aren't ponyfags".

Since this thread is already dying, should we add a "please add a link to the thread(s) when possible" to the OP? It bugs me that sometimes people forget to link or provide any references to the happenings
