I've actually thought this for a long time.
I think it would be cute if the catalog was randomized and didn't have anything to do with how long until a post gets bumped off, and that the speed of the board changed how many threads were allowed to be up at any one time, with a bottom. Maybe /i/ and other suuuuper slow boards would only have 5 pages at the bottom, whereas /b/ could have a HUNDRED pages, and then you order the catalog so that threads with fewer IPs in them are around the top to encourage more threads to have more activity in them, with the end goal to make it so that every thread has a nice little equilibrium of around 50 IPs so every individual thread feels kinda slow even if the entire board as a whole is super fast.

Except they aren't banning people breaking even the low standard rules of /trash/. The place is being spammed to death. For example, over the last week there were 15+ /sug/ threads on the board at the same time, and more recently /tlhg/ has had a fuckton of spam threads right now. Not to mention that over the past day there's been some no-life spamming the fuck out of the fatfur thread for god knows what reason (we're talking probably 300+ spam posts in just one thread at this point.) Spam is still against the rules and people have been banned for it before, so when will the mods do their job? I've reported so much shit that I can't even report anything 24 hours later, so it's not like they can be missing it.

I wouldn't bet on it now though, supposedly people are being suspended for "false reporting" because apparently the mods/jannies/whatever can't take two seconds to fix the issue.
