False
if mentions were upboats, then threads would be sorted most replied -> least replied
>>390425
both individual post wise and in catalog
I'm thinking about writing an userscript that converts (you)s to upvotes. Anyone's interested?
Anyone who posts on /b/ should be banned from posting on all other boards for one month.
Anyone who posts dumb frog should be banned from posting on all boards forever.
Anyone who posts dumb anime should be banned from posting on all boards forever.
>>391675
Anime is allowed on ever board as long as it's related to the board topic though.
I've been browsing this site for 10 years, and like many people I'm mixed on the changes Hiro has made. Here are some suggestions for how we can improve 4chan on a site-wide basis.
>Remove forced originality from /r9k/.
>Divide existing boards into smaller boards for focused discussion. /tv/ could be unclogged by creating a /got/ and /sw/ board, for example. It worked for /mlp/.
>Enable user-created boards once they've been approved by administrators.
>No mandatory flags on any board. Users can create their own flags or banners that will be displayed alongside the post number, or select from a variety of premade ones.
>Get rid of the antiquated BBS style posting. Each post within a thread will have replies nested with a simple click-to-view system.
>Mandatory user IDs to discourage samefagging. Enable the option to register custom IDs that can be used via password, eliminating the need for tripcodes. These IDs will expire after 6 months of inactivity. Users will be able to send hidden posts to one another based on ID.
>The whole blue/orange color scheme is like TRON or something. Change it to a sensible white background.
>Display a board-tan in the top-left corner of each board, adding some spice to the overall UI and fostering a sense of community.
>Enable an option to collectively hide obnoxious shitposters via a flag/save system. If the overall balance of flag:save is negative, the post will be hidden from view automatically and must be manually clicked to view.
>In addition to the above flagging system, users will be able to purchase a "super save" for a small fee that they can gift to users who make posts of exceptional quality.
>Keep the image uploading system, but remove lowres image previews in case the content is obscene or triggering to users. Instead, make the images auto-upload to a third party website, and display a link to the content within the post.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

>Remove forced originality from /r9k/.
Don't lurk there, dont care.
>Divide existing boards into smaller boards for focused discussion.
Bandwidth costs money. More boards = more bandwidth. This idea is unlikely.
>Enable user-created boards
As above, though maybe a yearly poll/survey/tar and feathering to select a new board from a shortlist.
>No mandatory flags on any board.
I'm ok with this.
>Get rid of the antiquated BBS style posting. Each post within a thread will have replies nested with a simple click-to-view system.
Goodbye Ctrl+F. No.
>Mandatory user IDs to discourage samefagging.
Nope, because anonymous.
>--- Enable the option to register custom IDs that can be used via password
Nope, because anonymous.
> Users will be able to send hidden posts to one another based on ID.
If you want your supr sekrit ecomms, lrn2IRC
> Change it to a sensible white background.
My eyes, user selectable is fine.
>Display a board-tan in the top-left corner of each board
gb2fakebook if you want to idol worship, community is fostered by lurking moar.
>Enable an option to collectively hide obnoxious shitposters
Great idea till they change IP. Lrn2internet.
>In addition to the above flagging system, users will be able to purchase
As above.
>Keep the image uploading system, but remove lowres image previews in case the content is obscene or triggering..
I wish I had read your entire post instead of point by point till this fucking show stopper.
> auto-upload to a third party website
And who's going to pay for that hosting shitlord? The users you're milking for shekls for the privilege (lel u triggered fgt?) of posting anonymously? (or not so anonymously, as accounts would be inherent somewhere based on your ideas above)
I don't know who you are or why you want to monetise 4chan, but you can fuck right off back to wherever you came from.
>>391468
>More boards = more bandwidth
did you mean storage? because that's the only thing additional boards would take up, the same amount of users accessing a larger variety of resources still equates to the same amount of data served
Fuck more boards though, and fuck user-created boards too, let 8gag have their imagereddit niche.
>>391476
> did you mean storage?
I did, and fucked if I know why I wrote bandwidth. Users split to new boards, hits stay the same but storage increases because two boards worth of rare pepes.
> Fuck more boards though, and fuck user-created boards too, let 8gag have their imagereddit niche.
A this is fine too.

Poo in the loo, Raj.
Any chance we can have IDs removed from /pol/?
Flags are fine though.
>>390984
Remove both
/pol/ does not need to be /int/
>>390987
I agree, but I don't want people to scream "poo in loo", IDs are easier to go after.
We can also delete /pol/ in the process.
Can we talk about the idea about getting this board removed? Absolutely nothing on topic, good, productive, or helpful comes of this board for 4chan as a whole. There are countless shitty generals that are total circlejerks and have absolutely nothing to do with the boards intended use, a cultural exchange. /brit/ is just people posting "(to be honest)" and "took a poo lads" over and over thinking they're funny, and /cum/ is just gay anime posters masturbating together. I don't even want to think about how bad the non-english generals are.
Those aren't the worst offenders to the community. The rampant shitposting, probably out of sheer boredom, is unparalleled. The Australians roleplay as shitposting bullies, and are encouraged by the rest of the board to act as these jesters. There's always a country that's the latest fad to shitpost about. If you're portuguese, indian, german, etc. during the wrong time, expect any of your posts to not be met with discussion, but stupid memes.
Cuckposting is out of control too. Expect at any time to see 100 "my country fucks the women from your country", "your countrymen have small genitals" and "your country's women prefer african/asian/non-white men" posts on the front page. This is just stupid shitposting.
Finally, the racism makes the board even shittier. I'm not one for censoring the word nigger or whatever, but the racism on /int/ is just completely restrictive to any kind of decent discussion and just floods the board with shitty threads. The amount of /pol/tards whining about niggers or white men who date asian women, or the non-whites who make "cumskins are still alive" threads is just terrible board quality.
Absolutely no good content or discussion comes of this board, and its topic isn't exactly that tangible, it's not like you can't have a cultural exchange of different regions car culture on /o/, or international music thread on /mu/. If we don't want this shitty board deleted, can we suggest ways to fix it?
/int/ is a board that I go to whenever I want a cheap laugh and usually I get it and maybe even learn something new about someone else's country. It's one of my favorite boards on the site and I wouldn't change anything about it
>>390983
>he can't handle the bants
>>390993
this tbqfh
Why is /qa/ so obsessed with /pol/? At any given time there's upwards of 15 threads that revolve around /pol/, most asking for it to be deleted or complaining it's a circlejerk. Why does it matter to you what they do on their own board?
/pol/ is a cancer to this site. Hell, it's a cancer to the Internet at large.
Also, it's the reason why 4chan is banned in Germany.
>>390870
>4chan is a safe place, shitlord! Ban those problematic cis nazis!
Most boards hates them, it's just that they can complain freely about it here.

If we're advocating for THE OLD WAYS, I lament that threads no longer sport "Marked for deletion (old)."
The never-ending, never-dying threads have turned most boards.. there's an R-word here. Every "general" is just a sub-board within a board, and posting outside of that general, when it is going, you're lambasted and told to return to "the general." Sub-(R-word)s.
Threads should be able to die of old age, before the various limits are met.
You want Sage to be visible again? Then threads need to die sooner.
>>391332
No we need sage visible again so we can sage shitpost threads to hell and back.
Can we stop taking things so seriously?
>>390605
yes. good thread.
>>390605
>I don't give a shit about anything so you have to stop giving a shit about everything
Maybe try a different website?
Yes you just have to delete /pol/
MLP and porn should be allowed on /pol/.
>MLP and porn should be allowed on /pol/.
When MLP forms it's own political institutions, I'll agree with you. I expect it to happen in the next generation.
Porn I thought is pretty much allowed, until you get the crazy fuckers who try to suppress speech by pornflooding.
Wow, great post, you sure convinced me with those hot opinions.
>>390533
Porn is not allowed, it's simply spammed a lot.
So we've all agreed that meta and board culture shitposting is bad.
Yet threads like >>>/a/135112482 get a free pass every year. Why? They're on par with the whole "4chan cup" thing. They don't discuss anime or manga as the board's subject entails.
Why do the mods let them slide? Do they secretly participate?
>>390403
You got grinched again, huh?
>>390406
>grinched

>>390403
>secret santa
>shitposting
Kill yourself
>look down on emoticons
>unironically do shit like ERP and stuttering
Explain this shit.
The various types of mindless shitposting the whiny meme elitist /a/ reject types on /qa/ like is "board culture," so it should be worshiped and coddled by the community.
>>390127
Stuttering like the speech issue or something else?
Emoticons are made pointless by virtue of the fact that this is an image board, and a picture can convey much more than a few characters od text. On the other hand, stuttering cannot be substituted with an image.
>mods still trying to force RWBY on /a/ despite every thread about it being a massive shitposting fest
>>389773
I took a peak at /a/ once. There was a thread entitled 'penis' that had well over a hundred replies.
Frankly RWBY belongs on /a/. It sucks.
>>389776
>faggot who doesn't browse the board having a say on what belongs there or not
Fuck off idiot.
>>389777
I like dubs over subs too.
I know I'm not the first one to suggest, but wouldn't it be nice to have anons ask for and provide medical consultation/medical advice to those in need? Would come in handy, even though it might be slow af
If you seriously think getting medical advice from random people on 4chan is a good idea you're retarded.
>>389710
And there's no fix for that so..
>3. You will not post any of the following outside of /b/: Trolls, flames, racism, off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, indecipherable text (example: "lol u tk him 2da bar|?"), anthropomorphic ("furry") or grotesque ("guro") images, post number GETs ("dubs"), or loli/shota pornography.
>racism
Sexism is in the same league as racism. Obviously, using an occasional nigger or faggot is fine and dandy, but I don't think you need to be reminded that were currently have an ENTIRE BOARD, one of the most active ones at that, dedicated to hating and insulting women.
Scratch that, though. The board isn't dedicated to that, but for some reason the userbase has managed to make it just that. Now, it wouldn't be a such an issue if it was contained to /r9k/ in the first place, but it isn't.
Frogposting retards leak onto every other board and are very prone to shitposting the moment someone mentions women.
tl;dr - sexism should be against the rules alongside racism, just look at /r9k/ for a reason
No wonder moot deleted /q/. Pussies like to complain about every little thing.
>>389667
Name one positive or neutral property of sexism. There is none. All it does is derail conversation and start shitfests, just like racism.
I agree. misogynist pissbabies have no right to spew their thread-derailing filth with no repercussions.
