Can we talk about 4chan like it's an addiction?
I've stayed away for a few weeks. Came back.. found a bunch of threads opened in tabs. I just closed them all, and I realize how much of my productivity and free time 4chan sucks out of my day. Not to say that 4chan has anything to do with it, obviously my mind is making this problem for me, but still...
Let's have a semi-serious thread about "4chan addiction".. When did you first start coming here? What do you spend most of your time doing here? Do you consider this site a drain on your life?...

I first started coming to 4chan around early 2010, but never really posted anything until summer of 2014. I never really payed attention to notable events until Facebook bought the Oculus Rift. I spend most of my time on /v/. Is 4chan a drain on my life? I don't think so. I have no life, so I wouldn't be doing anything useful anyway. Yeah, I'm addicted. But I still like a few things about this place.
I came here in 2012. I did not particularly enjoy 4chan, but I kept on visiting anyway. Now it's just become so familiar I can't stop. I spent most of my time early on visiting random boards, but now I spend most time on /pol/ and /s4s/, and shitpost on /r9k/ because I hate that stupid place.
I have tried many times to quit coming here, but each time I realize how little I have to do compared to how much time free time I have. I'm bored of all my other hobbies and other internet communities I visit too, so I can't replace 4chan with those. And interestingly,...

4chan improved my life, then made it worse for different reasons.
Is Hiro kill?
He's been awfully quiet.
>>413240
He has a job.
Maybe he just has nothing to say. Geeze.
>>413240
He runs 5 other websites. Check his Twitter.
Why have /lgbt/ anymore? It was clearly from a time when Moot was simply shucking and jiving for some more good goy points and shekels from the Tumblr crowd and normies. It's clear they are not wanted by anyone but the normies on /b/, and the lonely faggots on /r9k/. Besides, they're really detached from the rest of the board, much like /b/. Lots of people that go there either only go to /lgbt/ or /b/. The only thing they're good for is posting b8 threads on /pol/ and acting like faggots. I'm sure nobody would notice if it vanished tomorrow.

Everybody actually hates it, even "tumblrs". It's just "MY ORIENTATION IS BETTER THAN YOURS!!!11!!1!": the board
t. bifag agenderfag
Keep it but make it more of a containment board.
When that board was created all the other boards had a maximum of 3 letters in the board name. The obvious thing to call this board would have been /gay/, but no. These special snowflakes just had to have 4 letters, /lgbt/.
Still pisses me off.
I'm convinced mods are purposely trying to sink /v/. Before any drastic change occurred (such as a split that some people want) the least you could do is moderate it. There are always streamer threads up, threads about transsexuals that people who secretly want to hatefuck them keep spamming, dumb forced memes made by /tv/ cross boarders, "hurdur what do you think about this SJW?" threads, and a lot more. I mean ALWAYS this shit is there. Even the slightest amount of moderation would be useful but at this point there seems to be none.
What is there goal,...

This is why I like /vg/. It's all video game discussion, all the time.
>>412043
I'm convinced that people who come to /qa/ to bitch about /v/ aren't native to the board, and fall into one of a few categories:
1. Wants mods to be their maids and delete anything they don't like.
2. Doesn't use the board and believes some horror story from like, 2008-2012 about /v/ being 90% off-topic. Comes to the board, sees one off-topic thread, confirmation bias kicks in.
3. Wasn't around for the horrors of the past and doesn't know how good they have it.
4. Is so horribly...

I hope you /q/tards kill yourself
/pol/ is victorious once again
that's what you losers get haha
thats a big snail
>>411283
African land snail. They make for cool pets, actually.
>>411339
it's also extremly harmful to the native populations and a plague if brought to other countries
like redditors
anyone else noticed a button near the catalog button that leads to the sundance website?
oh wow, i didn't even notice the new years message changed to sundance, that explains it better
Some idiot tried to push a meme and Hiro just changed it to the Sundance Film Festival instead. It's great.
He forgot to close the <a> tag, now the catalog has a weird sundance button
Can the mods start deleting all the threads on /v/ that start with an off-topic picture? Like, 99% of the time they derail into talking about the picture instead of the post. It's gotten really bad lately.
OH SHIT IS THAT CHIE FROM KING OF FIGHTERS?
What ever happened to the tripfriend Quentin?
He needs to come back to help educate and enlighten the idiots here.
He was arrested

w-what
There was a fun Arcade thread on /v/ last night that was deleted.
The question standing is, where should threads about arcades go? They seem to encompass videogames and videogame culture.
idk try >>>/vr/ lol
>>414870
But that is a dead board where nothing posted there can't be posted on /v/.
>>414869
>where should threads about arcades go
On /v/ since there are still arcades and new arcade games being made unless you're exclusively discussing only old arcade games then they go to /vr/.
Sounds like a jani was being stupid and didn't know what the fuck he was doing or the thread went severely off track.
Hello, I'm kinda in a tough spot so mods hear me out. I've been living in a hotel for about a month now for personal reasons, and noticed that the ip for the hotel has been banned for about 4 years now. Now ive appealed it but no dice, I mean im pretty sure whoever got banned is long gone or has a different ip. Why must I suffer, all I want to do is talk about vidya.
How are you posting here then?
>>414764
Borrowed someones mobile for the moment and transfered the screenshot
>>414763
Two problems with ur bait
You don't explain how you are posting here and if you found a way to post then what's the problem
Also, that's a lie an IP is based on the specific device if the hotel itself was banned it wouldn't be an IP ban
did tumblr and feminism ruin /pol/?
it's way too big now and it's very difficult to get an actual discussion going.
before it was brought to tumblr's attention it was "okay" now it's just a clusterfuck and not worth going to.
>>414137
It's hardly been feminized... maybe the JIDF won if anything (have you seen all the clickbait lately?), but I wouldn't say it was SRS or Femen who did it.
>>414139
>It's hardly been feminized
I'm not saying it has. I'm saying since it caught tumblr's attention and became a catch phrase over there, the number of users spiked. and most of them are useless shitposters.
>>414137
No, it didn't.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. I'll be here for a while.
Asian Moot, why the fuck would you get rid of the wordfilter on "cuck?" It's a stupid fucking word used exclusively by newfags.
Bring back the wordfilter, but change it so that it filters to "stud." And also wordfilter "meme" to "smurf."
>>413546
you should have seen the /qa/ thread from a month and a half ago where the 8gaggers convinced Hiro that it was a freedom of speech issue
>>413550
>Listening to 8gag
No wonder this site's been going down the shitter
>>413550
>freedom of speech issue
Why the fuck would he take admin advice from a bunch of fucking retards?
>You have been banned from /tg/ for posting >>>/tg/44754357, a violation of Rule 1:
>Off-topic; all images and discussion should pertain traditional games such as board games, paper games, war games, and card games.
Quests are not
-board games (the rule specifically refers to stuff like Catan or even Monoploy)
-paper games (they don't even have rules beyond "get a lot of votes" in most...

That is /tg/ dipshit.
>>411351
It says "such as". Those games are also roleplaying games. Quests and forum games have existed on the internet for a long time, way before 4chan was even a thing and traditional games is their niche. The problem is that they've become so popular they flood out other stuff.
But then we should just make an appeal to Hiro to make a forum games board where stuff like Risk threads, Quest threads, etc., can have a place. And they could use a /vg/ like template given the amount of posts they get and...

As an addendum, look at this picture. The unofficial Commander Keen rule. This is a rule that the community chose to have and the whoever moderates /tg/ the most lets it stand. Why? Because most of /tg/ are adults. We never abused shit to the point where this leeway had to be taken away from us, it's even necessary to a degree given /tg/ also discusses homebrews and settings. It's essential to creativity and everything that makes /tg/ the great board that it is.
So, really, don't let /tg/ be...

This.
This is the cancer killing /qa/.
This was the cancer that killed /q/.
Learn from your mistakes.
Ignore ALL threads making vain requests to moderators. Ignore ALL posts complaining about the quality of posts on another board.
People making these threads either do not understand board culture, or are trolls from said board shitposting. Do not give them attention.
If you have something you want to say to a moderator, go to the feedback section of the website....

>we should just bend over and take abhorrent behavior
You're the cancer killing 4chan
If the mods responded to feedback then I'm sure people would actually use the feedback section of the site.
But they don't, so people go here because at least they get SOME response. Maybe not a mod response but it's better than yelling at a wall and having nobody else hear it. Plus, Hiro has actually changed things as a result of /qa/. Sending something to the feedback queue is a good way to ensure Hiro will never see it.
How much does it cost to run 4chan annually?
>>413042
About ₹50
about tree fiddy
>>413042
For the amount of visitors and posts we have here, the amount of servers and bandwidth required probably costs $50k-$100k a year.
No idea if there are any paid staff. There's probably a few thousand dollars in annual accounting and legal fees as well.
