***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

It was kind of a Char Custom so I figured pink monoeye color might go well with it. But I did notice it looked off, I just didn't want to change it. Finding a good color to replace the not-quite-blue in the core was hard too, I guess I'll try some other things.

Reposting cause old thread is dead.

How good are the Volks FSS kits? I've always had a hard time finding them, but someone pointed out to me that there's a site online that sells them for only $70 shipped, which I thought was pretty reasonable.

I'm thinking about the Prominence right now because it looks like the one that needs the least amount of paint and touch-up, but do recommend me any better ones if you can.

It depends on the weapon to weapon basis. Some work well enough as a normal weapon, some are better as back mounted since they're larger. The handgun set is fine for usage, harpoon is good on the back. Check reviews for whichever one you have your eye on.

My MG Gundam 2.0 G3 and Zaku II 2.0 hold up the best for me. The G3 especially, since it's as solid as a brick.

My MK II 2.0 had some loose hip and wrist joints, but a little disassembly and a dab of extra thin cement in the right places tightened them up nicely.

overall the Volks FSS kits are very good with high level of detail and when finished are quite stunning. However it must be noted that volks has traditionaly done resin kits and have only recently started to do injection molds. This means that some kits including the prominence and the bang doll may require some more work than your usual bandai kit since nubs sometimes are not placed in the best of locations. On the other hand volk's resin kits are phenomenal but dont come colored.

On the topic of buying kits, i have bought 4 volks kits to date. the first two were the injection modeled prominece and neptune and i bought them off of the official volks website. in total the order cam out to be $180 ish.

https://www.volks.co.jp/page_ex.jsp?CONTROLID=SC0010&BUSINESSID=InitDisp&version=en

My other two kits i ordered off of eBay and are recast resin kits that i bought for around $70 each. however i should mention that these kits have not arrived yet so i do not know if their are any major flaws with them.

http://www.ebay.com/usr/gk_hobby?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2754

Over all for buying FSS kits i would recommend just regularly checking places like eBay, yahoo, or whatever service you prefer and if something pops up act quick because it can be gone before you know it.

They're massive and awesome looking. Shelf presence and detail would blow most MG's out of the water. You do need to glue and do a bit of painting, but it's really not much more work than your typical Kotobukiya kit.

$70 is a pretty great price, so I would grab it if I were you.

>Not buying Age gunpla.

Shit on the show as much as you want but the mechs are cool and the HG are very well designed, gafrans and shit like that aside.
>>

Also, the biggest con of these kits is that even though they have joints, they aren't designed for dynamic posing like most modern MG's. Consider them brick kits like MG Ex-S or FA Unicorn.

I only have the 1/48 Ingram, it's modeled after the Live action version so the detail is top notch, the only downside is that it can hardly hold its weapon in its hand, and the weapons themself is ridiculously small for some reason ( the revolver's barrel is thinner than Ingram's finger)

Yeah, my local hobby shops guys give me a discount too. It's nice stopping in and not feeling pressured to buy anything and just talk instead. My guys don't mind the discount because the bulk of their income from the stores modeling sales comes from the sales of supplies like paint and putty rather than the models themselves.

The gunpla is apparently their best selling type of kit though and they can't believe how quick they sell.

>>
I fucked up! I fucked up real bad!
You told me not to snap my kits. I thought I had it under control. Only too late did I learn the truth.
There existed a second dimension of snap.

How do I mend these pieces with as much structural strength as possible?
Is there some cement that can bond them strongly enough to survive as a joint, or could I ghetto the pieces together with a soldering-iron?

>>14081290

Liquid cement should do the trick. Stuff like Tamiya's extra thin cement or the equivalent products of other brands.

Brush it on both pieces, wait for ten seconds, put it together and hold it for a while. Then let it sit for a few hours until it's properly cured.

>>
>>14081621
>no gf to build models with
>>
>>14079511
It's not just about the price markup, it's the fact that some of the pbandai releases don't need to exist at all and can be regular releases.

Also if you don't buy them at release, you get fucked over on cost more often than not. Unless the kit is undesirable from the get go (rarely happens) it will always go up in price and they rarely get reprinted. Forcing people to buy a kit at release is a big fuck you in itself, especially in this hobby. The reason I like model kits, and I'm sure many other anons, is that it's a hobby that you don't need to rush you just enjoy it at you're own pace with the exception of the people on here who enjoy buying kits and having huge backlogs rather then the actual building.
>>
>>14081639
And the price for the exia amazing being discussed was only 400 yen higher than the regular release mg dark matter, and the upcoming hguc x-2 is only about 300 yen higher. More if you need to go through amiddleman obviously, but not by too much.

Bandai always jacks up the cost of special coating kits, P-Bandai or not.

You understand that molds are expensive right? So new molds can only be made if they think they can make profit, and if they think using the mold to make more than they can sell they sell them solely in Japan from P Bandai.

Regarding Altron specifically, they made an entirely new mold for it so you would think that it would be a regular release. It doesn't make sense why that one was specifically pbandai as they're usually just a remold with a few added on parts which make sense unless they thought it wasn't going to sell which obviously wasn't the case as it sold out fast
