Hey all; so I am confused why the fusion reactors explode when they are hit. I believe in real-life fusion applications, the process creating the energy would cease upon a fusion reactor being destroyed rather than release more energy like a fission reactor may. I know the Universal Century is pretty good about applying science to their fiction, so I was curious if /m/ had an explanation for the "avoid hitting the reactor so it doesn't explode" mentality in UC Gundam series.

1. They only explode if hit with a beam weapon. Otherwise, they just stop working if hit, and any explosion is more of a result of any remaining propellant or ammunition.
2. Supposedly it has something to do with the fact that Minovsky reactors use an I-Field to achieve clean fusion. If hit with a beam weapon, the I-Field is disrupted, which causes a chain reaction and an enormous explosion. That's how it's explained in universe, anyway.
I always thought it was because the reactor contains gas at an extremely high pressure and temperature, of course poking a hole in it lets the explosion out.

It just changes based on who's in the cast, this is early on when Roux and Ple hadn't shown up yet. It's like how Gavlet and Amandra show up in the first intro to L-Gaim, though neither of them are friends of Daba by any stretch.
Mashymre and Gavlet, however, are both extra-persistent prettyboys, a sorta-kinda fightin' history, and purple hair.

So, what does /m/ think the best and worst mid season upgrades are? I kinda absolutely hate the Double X but I love Burning Gundam. Can apply to other shows than Gundam too.

Try Burning was one of the laziest things I've ever seen.
Meanwhile Star Build Strike pleasantly surprised me. It's amazing how much different the Build Strike looks without giant wings. Also something finally hooked onto the Strike's chest vents, those always seemed like they were made for that.

Ishikawa was a proficient golf player and loved golf so much the last thing he did in his life was play the sport.
He also did baseball and mahjong manga, though they were pretty light on the actual game: A baseball manga of his was really just a manga about yakuza fucking around in baseball leagues, and Battle Wolf Janki 1999 is ostensibly about a Vietnam mercenary whose unit was destroyed almost to a man by Communists playing Mahjong Russian Roulette, but it's really just a guy hauling his wounded buddy through 'nam, going to Japan to seek revenge, killing half a building of businessmen and beating the other half in mahjong before also killing them.
I don't know what /m/'s opinion on IBO as a whole is so far, but I definitely agree that it could've used a few more good mecha fights.
But, the one thing I can say without a doubt is; Iron Blooded Orphans has my favorite designs for mechs out of any Gundam show.

Umm, Bordermemes 2/TPS.
It's not a "mech" series really, but each have mech-y characters and plenty of the enemies are robots.
The coop is a lot of fun imo. And the setting/exploration is surprisingly comfy.
Borderlands 1 is meh.

About a third of the way through ZZ and a question came to mind. Does Judau not have a rival? Rivals are established early on and yet no ones stepped up as far as I can tell. Unless it was supposed to be Mashymre? Dude didn't come off like he was one or was supposed to be one though.
