Why does /k/ hate Swiss milsurp when these are one of the best price/quality rifles you can currently buy?

The K31 I own is all beat up and ugly. I'll be damned if it isn't one of my favorite rifles to shoot. Big boom and accurate as hell. Since most of the other gun owners I hang out with are fudds also, I get to showcase the rifle every time I go shooting with them. Every single time I show them the straight pull bolt they get all nervous and say something along the lines of "there's no way that is safe." While hunting with rusted .303s and barely working pump actions.

So why all the hate for a hipoint 9mm on k? I keep seeing customers rave about it. Hipoint boasts about the low return rate of it. And every popular gun review channel i watch has essentially the same content: some crusty old dude talking about how hideous and undesirable it is, then he begrudgingly, through his closed teeth, talks about how the gun is reliable and accurate. is all the hate for this weapon meme-based or what?

It is absolutely the best gun in its price range.
However, for $150-200 more, you could have something so much nicer.

Raytheon has been awarded a $14 million Air Force contract for research and development intended to improve the military’s state-of-the-art air-launched, tactical missiles.
Under the agreement, which was announced Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Defense, Raytheon will attempt to improve upon the number of missiles that can be held on a single excursion. The company will also work to improve both the impact of each missile, and the platform survivability against any threat that would arise in an anti-access, area denial (A2AD) environment.
Two research concepts will help to achieve the improvements: the Small Advanced Capability Missile (SACM) and Miniature Self-Defense Munition (MSDM).
“The SACM will support affordable, highly lethal, small size and weight ordnance with advanced air frame design and synergistic control capabilities for air dominance enabling high air-to-air load-out,” the DoD said. “The MSDM will support miniaturized weapon capabilities for air superiority by enabling close-in platform self-defense and penetration into contested A2AD environment with little to no impact to payload capacity.”
Raytheon was one of four companies to submit a bid for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity cost contract. The labor will be conducted in Tucson, Ariz., and should be finished by Jan. 19, 2021.

I'm conflicted about this. On the one hand, I'm glad that Lockmart lost. On the other, I'm sad that CUDA won't be a thing. I hope whatever Raytheon comes up with is as neat as CUDA.
Why do militaries still issue handguns, when their role is primarily to serve as a back up for a primary arm?
Why not just arm troops with a PDW similar to a PLR-16 with a wire stock?

Even though the size is a bit larger than a conventional handgun, it's still compact enough to be handy. Weight wise at 54 ounces it's only twice as heavy as a Glock 17. The weight difference would likely be made up by not having to carry separate handgun mags, or ammo.
Not too much larger than a normal handgun, especially with a flush 10 round magazine.

So, for the past few months The Islamic State and the Taliban have been warring against each other in East-Afghanistan. They've officially declared war on each other. Can ISIS actually pose a threat to the Taliban though? They're mainly contained in Syria and Iraq, and not just because they're literally surrounded on all sides by sworn enemies (many if not most of which are other extremist groups, it would be ironic if ISIS didn't literally declare war on the whole world, including other terrorists).
Not only do The Taliban have the home advantage, I can't see ISIS being able to mount any sort of meaningful, or even large assault anywhere in Afghanistan. Can they even do anything other than send random, loosely-organized bands of people in that general direction?

Hey guys. So I'm in the navy, and I'm thinking about getting a hand tattoo.
I asked my command and they said I can't do it. But I looked through the tattoo regs and it says nothing about having a hand tattoo.
If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.

But seriously they're fine just buy it and shoot it and get aftermarket stuff for anything you don't like about it. You're better off buying a less expensive first AR and then swapping parts on it after a while than trying to blindly guess at what you want and buying some sort of Picatinny coffee maker handguard or something.
