What's good in the /gd/ hood? I'm looking for some video editing software (like Sony Vegas or something) to get. What does /gd/ think is the best video software out? (Don't care about price since I'm probably gonna pirate it) No-homo btw guys and thanks!

Btw I forgot to add that something with not too much of a learning curve would be great.

Blender can do video editing.

I used VideoPad not too long ago to make a shitty Banepost video and it worked out pretty well. I'm a big fan of FinalCut but I haven't had a mac since High School so I haven't used it in a long time. As far as piracy goes, just go learn Vegas.

Try strarting over. Then, draw up some basic sketches of what the business does and embodies, write these things down, too. Then, with all that different stuff, try to draw something that looks good. To me, that just looks like a shifty Barbie logo

This. Don't just go with the first thing that comes in your mind. Take the name of the business, come up with synonyms, related words, etc. As many words as you can. Then go from there.
Also are you are you using Photoshop or Illustrator? Cause the line quality looks like shit. You need to design logos in illustrator so that can work for business cards, or something else small, or blown up into a billboard and not lose quality. Also her tit looks fucking weird. But I would just throw the whole thing out and...

Wherever I see shadows being used, I always get the feel the designer is not just using the Drop Shadow effect but something more to give the object dimension and weight, almost like a bevel, but I can never put my finger on it, and I certainly don't know how to recreate it. Anyone know any standard procedures in doing this?

I was just being an asshole, but yes it's something pretty easy to achieve. The shadows shown on the original image are way better but you get the ideia..

Gradient, noise.
For the text you set its opacity to 0% and apply dropshadows (on the new version of photoshop you can simply add a new layer of shadows in the layer style panel by pressing the button "+" if you're using an older version...

Take out the text on the shirt on the left and it's actually pretty great.
The one on the right is... not so great. Fonts contrast each other in a really bad way and the photo just seems like an afterthought with how blurry it is.
Keep the one on the left. The guy knew what he was doing with modern design, especially dealing in music.

3 MB,
I'm new to video editing and want to replicate this style on the two characters in the webm.

Does anyone know what the artstyle is called or know any techniques to achieve it? I'm fairly competent with photoshop but I'm currently learning how to use sony vegas pro for a project I have in mind involving this.

That CG was done by rendering software that had heavy light/shadows to create severe shadows on the characters. Then the light part is made transparent so the shadows are what's left.

If you're trying to do this (shittily) with video, theoretically this should work.

I would shoot black-and-white in low-key lighting (so, bright keylight) on a well-lit background (so you can distinguish shadows on the subject from background). That will create figures with sharp contrast (see pic, but light the background so subject's shadows don't bleed to background)...

What's the difference between a vector and others? Is it really needed?

Vectors can scale to any size without loss of quality
>>
>>249999
Vector are mathematical creation. "The area between these points must be this color".

Bitmap is a grid. "The pixel at A1 is black, A2 is black, A3 is grey, etc"

As suck vectors can be scaled up (ie, to cover a plane or building) or down (an icon) without any issues.

Scaling up the bitmaps will result in a pixelated look (the squares get bigger) and scalling down will loose details and sharpess (the squares only get so small, afterward the software removes some of them).

Both...

1) What's the best way to add a texture to a simple background colour or gradient?
2) How would I achieve an effect like the background of this login screen?

I've been a kinda crappy hobbyist for a while, and I'd like to get better. This type of effect looks pretty good, and is somewhat commonly used.

pretty easy to do in PS, grab your base image as a base layer and slap a new layer ontop, fill it with color of your choice, set layer to 'overlay' :^) for a more uniform look set the base image as black and white
>>
>>249927
it can be easy inspired by that.
create a form first. after that, change the padding styles. then add a background with linear-gradient (you can see on the stackoverflow)

you should know the css and I guess, you already know.

You can use the linear gradient effect in css.

I have a folder filled with 300 images and videos of content I made. Such as drawings/photoshops/animations. Where do I take off with this? I'm a degenerate and I don't know how to get people to recognize me. I'll post some samples of shit I did. I might be posting photoshits I did for acquaintances so I'll atleast censor /part/ of their faces.

I want to get more involved in video editing as a hobby. What're some good video editing programs? doesn't need to be anything too fancy, would just like some more options. I'm using movie maker right now, but it's pretty shit and doesn't have many options to do stuff, although i dig the simplicity of it.

any other advice regarding video editing would be appreciated too :)
