because superheroes(and by virtue their writers) are completely unable to wrap their heads around the complexity of the factors at play in a war like this.
superman may be capable of reading books cover to cover in seconds, understand the complex ethnic and religious nuances of these armed groups, keep track of and judge their actions fairly, and act in a way that would minimize or extinguish violence and destruction, but the people in charge sure aren't.
