I found an old VHS copy of Phantom Menace, which I have watched again.
Observation:
The Neimoidians are terrible villains. Too obviously stooges, no menace.
>The battle droids and rolleypolley robots are cool.
Darth Sidious shows up in like the first ten minutes, for a phone call.
Jar Jar's high pitch whine is particularly obnoxious, and the Gungan king is nearly as bad with his tics and slobber.

That the trade blockade is a gigantic thing holding the entire planet hostage is really poorly conveyed.
Queen Amidala's escape sort of just happens without fanfare and the enormity of the situation is sort of just forgotten.
>R2D2's intro is fun and functional enough.
>Watto's CGI has aged fairly well.
That the Trade Federation has assembled an entire army is really the main plot, and how & why they have so much military power is not conveyed at all.
Jake Lloyd is not great, the writing is worse. Jar Jar continues to be unfunny.
C3PO's intro is obnoxious.
There's a scene between Sidious and Maul that's shown really late after the escape and doesn't really illuminate anything.
If everyone understands that Queen Amidala would be signing a treaty under duress, why would it be legal?
The entire plot to get the money for hyperdrive by betting on the pod race is really contrived.

The divine birth thing is awful.
A lot of boring scenes between Anni and his pod, aliens kids, Smee & Quigon.
Darth Maul arrives on the planet, sends out some droids, and does....nothing.
If Tatooine is lawless and isn't under the Republic's domain, why can't Quigon just kill the slave-owning Watto? Why is he allowed to gamble for a slave?

I recently bought a pack of force awakens cards on a whim and I got the foil variant of pic related (084/250). I noticed that the normal card goes online for roughly $0.50 to $2.00 and I was hopeful that this might be worth something.

Are there any other examples of artists creating characters that are essentially wish fulfillment of already existing characters?
The only one I can think of is Bendis literally being able to write wish fulfillment stories about his waifu Kitty Pryde.

Hell, a lot of ancient Greek plays and later literature connected to mythology or legend (say the King Arthur stories) was LITERALLY fanfiction wish fulfillment about existing characters.
But I imagine there's much more of this going on then we'll ever notice.
