It would have been better if they just didn't bother with Hans at all and instead used the time wasted on him to further explore the sisterly bond between Elsa and Anna.

It somehow resonated with me more than any animation in a long time, pulled me into a fandom, made me a shipper etc. for the first time in my life. I think there's something special about the world and the character dynamics, and the insane worldwide success implies the same dynamics and struggles appeal to a lot of other people, too. Each of the characters have their own kind of pain, their own motivation for the mistakes they make, I like that. For some reason I really liked Hans, he's the most realistic Disney villain I've seen in a long time (apart from the hammy villain monologue twist) and I think he's a big reason for me liking the film so much.
However, it's a shame the movie ended up being so rushed; the animation looks really dodgy in some places, the writing has a lot of plot holes and clunkiness, some of the songs are downright awful and don't fit the mood of the film, (the only ones I really liked are the ice cutting song in the beginning and the choir piece at the coronation, I would have liked to have more nordic themes in the music). I also feel the setting and the characters had a lot of potential the movie wasted with the hamfisted writing.
I sort of hope Frozen II will be a bit better since they should have enough time to hone the writing and animate it properly.
Hi all! I am in town for a week to visit with my mom. We don't get to spend much mother-daughter time together, but lately Steven Universe has become our thing.
Here's the problem, we binged watched the whole show last time I was in town, and I am hoping to find a show similar to it.
What do I mean by that? I love a story driven plot with vibrant and 3 dimensional characters and the songs are icing on the cake.
Do you know any other cute cartoons that have deeper meanings and rich stories?
I've heard a lot about Gravity Falls but I sort of want something more Wizard of Oz-like, and I don't know if mom would enjoy Over the Garden Wall. What are some good suggestions, /co/?
Bonus points if it has musical episodes, and a slightly cutesy chibi look.

Have you considered anime? It seems like you might have an easier time finding what you're looking for in one.
Other than that the only thing I can think to suggest is Wakfu. The story is good, the characters are fun, and it has a cute anime-inspired art style

Am I the only one bothered by Affleck's Wayne voice? It doesn't sound like natural speech, it sounds like he's putting on a voice and trying to sound like Clint Eastwood or something.
