I have ragequit the Spiderman and Marvel more or less in general after the events of the One More Day and the Brand New Day.
I was enjoying the pre-OMD storyline very much and it just made me crazy. I know that they made the ASM go 4 times a month from 1 etc.. afterwards lot of good stuff but I was an angry nerd who ragequit.
So now after all these years I want to ask is it worth it to read the whole thing from the start to today? How are the runs?

Guys, the more I think about BvS the more upset I get. I'm sure other directors will put out good to great movies in this universe but I'm baffled at the decisions that were deemed acceptable in BvS. Now this isn't a complete BvS defending or bitching thread, but rather a DCEU thread. Still there are some now canon things in the cinematic universe that really should not have happened.

Sure I'm interested in the Darksied/Injustice stuff they're setting up but I feel that the cost may have been too great. Do you think the DCEU is salvageable as is or do you want/expect a sort of Flash level rebooting of events? How much will Suicide Squad factor into the events of the greater Cinematic Universe? Will Ben Affleck's Batman movie be a complete prequel or have scenes of both past&present?

Ehhhhh that's really more of a money question than a quality question. It may have fallen heavily again this weekend; more heavily than it can survive? I don't know. The overseas is likely to be very little at this point as well, so there's a slim possibility it's basically done. Most movies make another 5% of what they already have at 4 weeks; this one might not even make that.
So it may or may not be salvageable.

Do you mean a reboot, or an in-continuity reboot? Because those are death. Yeah, I know X-Men did it; but X-Men hasn't proven it can continue making money without Jennifer Lawrence and Hugh Jackman yet. You know what else did it? Superman Returns. Just straight up ignored the two previous movies and told an entirely different shitty story. It's possibly the weakest of the old Superman movies, and we're talking weaker than IV, the one with a literally solar-powered Lex/Supes clone who falls down immediately in darkness.

While again there's really no way to know, the chances of it being a prequel set significantly far in the past are slim, because there's only so much vaseline you can put on a lens these days before the HD crowd abandons you.

If there was one thing the Amazing series did right, it was the love interest.
At the risk of sounding like a Tumblr blog, Gwen actually did shit while MJ's purpose was getting captured. Plus, Peter and Gwen actually looked adorable while the Raimi Peter and MJ invoke Anakin and Padme.
The Amazing series is by no means better, but Gwen felt more compelling than MJ.
I hope the MCU love interest, either Gwen or MJ, doesn't fall to the path of being like the other MCU love interests and only exist to get saved. That just makes them annoying.
I agree, this was my favorite part of those movies. It's frustrating how all these little things about them are so good and then a truckload of garbage comes barreling in to remind you that Sony has no idea what the fuck they're doing.

A female character doesn't have to pass MUH BENCH-AL TES to be good, they just have feel like they add to the plot rather than take away from it.
MJ was a plot device and only just. She was as much a character as the Orb in Guardians of the Galaxy, an object that needed to be retrieved for plot reasons.
Writers seem to think love interests need to be either damsels or STRONG WOMYN WHO NEED NO MAN when in fact, both are equally annoying.

Basically a large mainstream publisher willing to print creator penned series. Something within other genres aside from the typical Marvel/DC fare.
Leaving creators to their own devices but still publishing their stuff on a near equal footing to the big two capeshit companies.
Independent comics that actually gain some notice actually do well, Ghostworld, Scott Pilgrim, Cerberus, Saga, Persepolis, Walking Dead, they all got some notoriety and mainstream attention. So it is not as if non cape comics do really badly.

Why does Identity Crisis get such a bad rap?
The only criticism I ever hear is because of the rape, the end, and how all the characters ended up depressed or suspicious of each other.
The rape is considered very triggering, and /co/'s favorite marysue the flash wasn't over powered for once.

It didn't earn its ending and most of the main cast was frustratingly out of character. It created a shitty trend of "mature" naturalism in DC comics when it had finally emerged from the shitty trends of the 90s. That trend led to garbage like Cry For Justice.
