Why is sexuality so overused in anime? I get that people are sexual and we shouldn't be forced to portray people as not. I also get that people are sexual and its ok to try to appeal to that like any other emotion.
But why anime? Why is it one of the defining features. Lots of people try to deny it, but sexy girls are a staple of anime. Its something that the genre is known for with good reason.
Is it the fan influence? I understand that any group of fans will sexualize characters they like. But most media don't choose to focus on it as much as anime does, and when they do its vanilla "hot girl" things. Anime openly alludes to hardcore fetishes in otherwise normal shows, and whole shows are built on what normies would consider weird fetishes.
I really don't know. What's your take /a/?
