Someone with a .150 Batting average but a .400 Slugging percentage tells me that they rarely hit the ball, but when they do it goes for extra bases. Batting average is the base for both slugging and OBP, to say that it isn't as important of a stat to see how good a hitter is for certain situations is just dumb.
