Sigma-18-35mm-F1.8-DC-HSM.jpg

I'm looking for a lens for Pentax that I can set up for a long exposure, stationary-mounted shot of the night sky in the summertime. Ideally, I'm thinking 20mm range, and pretty sharp at f/1.8. Pic related seems to fit the bill, but I don't want to spend $800 on a lens that I'd have no other real need for. Anybody have a particular favorite K-mount lens for shooting the night sky?

Wide? Rokinon/Samyang 14mm f/2.8
Tele for wide field DSOs? Tair 300, any other small refractor around 300-500mm.

When did this become acceptable? What's the point of having a fucking gear thread is you braindead cunts just shit up the board regardless?

It's Christmas, it will die off in a few days, maybe a couple of weeks.

Do not - I repeat, DO NOT - get a Sigma under any circumstances.

I have 4 sigma glasses, no problems with any, 2 with f/1.4. Officer?
>>
>>2730010
It's almost 2016 and people can't get over sigma art series.
On the other hand. 20mm f/1.4 has a lot of coma. Some people don't like that for astro. It is far from being useless though

>Canikon fags angry that Sigma went "well, we're competing with Zeiss now" and is now churning out awesome designs on a yearly basis that take a gigantic load of crap over anything they offer

I mean I love my Canon glass, but
>Hey we're Canon and we made a new 35mm 1.4 because Sigma fucked us in the ass. It's going to be 2000$ for it, because we're Canon, and we hate you.
>it's also only slightly sharper in the corners than the already tack sharp Sigma

I do have one gripe with my favourite Smegma lens, though. The rubber ring on the zoom ring is now loose, after two years of constant abuse in night clubs though, but still not excusable. Maybe it's because I got one of the first batches.

Does the 24mm smegma have this coma issue as well?
>>
>>2730479
Yes the 24mm has quite a bit of coma too. But it's on par with the Canon or Samyang lenses, only that the Sigma is sharper and has less vignetting, so there's a little more wiggle room in post maybe.
