I want to get into astrophotography as a part time hobby, and have ordered the Celestron 6 SE to start with,
Along with the T-rings to mount my Canon 550D to it directly.
Is there anybody on here with a similar set up, any tips would be appreciated, I can't find much about it being used for photographgy.

Generally speaking, for photography you'll want an equatorial mount.

The 6 SE has a wedge for it, how would I get on without one though? Just at first to get the hang of using it, would I still be able to get some decent shots?

There are applications for phones to track stars, constellations, and such the issue is with deep magnification the objects are moving quickly relative to you so without the mount deeper astrophotography (galaxies fainter objects etc.) are much harder to do.
