Mate i don't know, fear is such a huge thing, rational, irrational, fear because of past experiences, fear because of another persona experiences anticipation that something could happen and shit, fear of the future or broader : fear of the unknown which i think plagues a lot of people, racism has a lot to do with fear but so does SJWism

Right now, as we type this, there's a gigantic, almost continental-sized creature feeding on the various cosmic energies somewhere in the lukewarm waters of Jupiter's moon Europa.

you know how watches and clocks sometimes stop when someone dies? well, my grandpa passed away last week and, obviously, when i got home that day, i wasn't exactly in the best mental condition. Of course i've heard noises i couldn't immediately explain.
Now, i am not religious in any way, nor do i believe in life after death, so i didn't give the spoopy much thought at the moment,
but something way more interesting just happened.
My grandma was just sitting in her living room with her sister and some other people, talking about grandpa, as people do in these scenarios, when the old pendulum clock standing on the furniture started working out of nowhere. the thing is, that clock hadn't worked in years, no matter how many times grandpa changed the batteries in it.
so, my question for the believers of /x/ who have lost someone is: how do you deal with this kind of presence? has it changed your life and the way you behave when you are alone?

my other grandpa drowned, so obviously his watch died too at that very moment, and nothing particularly spoopy happened other than some dreams

You shouldn't be afraid of them, people are paranoid because of uncertainty about themselves and answers provide themselves to those who look. There are layers to the world and entities prefer privacy the same way you would this isn't difficult to comprehend. Boundaries exist and crossing them reflects on you at some point so behave accordingly.

/x/ i need your help explaining something. I have often have major deja vu but every time i do it never goes the way i dreamed, almost like i saw a parallel universe.
I shall give you a fake example if you dont understand.
Say im walking down an alley way and then suddenly i realize i have had a dream in this exact place, and it looked exactly the same, the same trash bags, the same guy in a blue sweater, everything. but in the dream i got mugged right at this moment, however while im remembering this, there is no mugger and i walk out of the alley completely fine. Do you understand and can you help me explain this?

I can tell you all about one that just happened 10 minutes ago.
I was in bed watching the Youtube video that i am literally watching now on a new channel i found just a couple days ago (the dream was months ago) but in the dream my girlfriend came in and complained about how loud the laptop is and i said that it had to be loud because one of my ears is blocked, and well you guessed it MY EAR IS ACTUALLY GODDAMN BLOCKED. So im sitting here with a blocked ear, waiting for my girlfriend to come in and it still hasn't happened....

I think the very fact that you were able to use the word hypothesis correctly in context makes this the best thread I've seen this morning.
For my opinion, while some might have suffered from such a state, making them more confused and easy to convince bad things were happening, two facts:
The politics of the situation was pretty well recorded and make it seem much more like a political/social upheaval that was predictable.
And, people were aware of the delirium causing effects of certain plants, eating some types of spoiled food, etc., so ultimately, while it's not impossible this may have helped influence some, I'm disinclined to believe it was a primary or even significant factor in the larger affair.

I had the strangest thought about life a while ago and wish to share it with you.
You know the Demon, legion, it was said that was cast out to the pig and drowned. What if, and just hear me out, each and every one of us are a different one of his many names.
That this world and all we percieve is a prison housing him, and each one of us a part of who he is. I mean think about it, your on 4chan, why did you get drawn here? How many times did you say "we are legion" in a raid or when trolling when you first came to 4chan?
How many names do you have? How many have you created for your ego? Those times at character creation in any game where you had to pick a name, and you created one. How many names are you so far? Can you remember every name you created, or did you throw them aside when they weren't convenient?
Now for instance, lets say this thought is true. Imagine for a moment it is, now do some introspection. What would that mean if you were a Christian? How about even a Buddhist, how would this play into your choice of religion?
Would then your religion be an attempt at redemption, or a ploy to escape your prison?
