How do you feel that many reports of the paranormal can be explained by simple visual illusions or otherwise attributed to mental illness? I still think it's interesting because of the mysterious stories.

Hey /x/. Law of attraction question here. I'm wondering, if a person/friend you know is having a bad behaviour, attitude, negative thinking etc. Can you slowly make that person into being a nice, respectful positive one?
>>17541888
Bump. If it is possible to change someone's behaviour, into a good one (which makes perfect sense to do). Would that be possible, and how would the process be?
Ask for that specifically. Believe it has happened. Watch it manifest. You're welcome.
>>17541903
Yes, it is possible. It's called being friendly and supportive. Eventually, it rubs off. No magickxs needed.
I need $40, today, before 8:00pm EST.
Can you help me with that, using your paranormal ways?

Any other empaths here?
I've been in a weird position for the past 6 months, I moved in with someone who has paranoid schizophrenia and ever since then I've had a hard time shielding my self from the paranoid vibes, Now I have to try and distinguish between my emotions, the persons emotions and now just random paranoid delusional thoughts, it feels like I'm going crazy, who knows I might be. Moving out is not a option for at least another couple months. Anyone have any insights on how I can better shield myself? Thank you.
Might be able to help though I'd rather talk over Skype.

You should get better shields and buy some herbs and incense to burn in the house/ apartment to help you out.

Newton's 'Philosopher's Stone' Recipe Found
One of Isaac Newton's 17th-century alchemy manuscripts, buried in a private collection for decades, reveals his recipe for a material thought to be a step toward concocting the magical philosopher's stone. The "philosopher's stone" was a mythical substance that alchemists believed had magical properties and could even help humans achieve immortality.
The manuscript turned up at an auction in Pasadena, California on February 16th, where the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia bought it. The alchemy text will be available in an online repository for those interested in the history of modern chemistry, according to James Voelkel, the CHF's curator of rare books. The handwritten document contains instructions for making "philosophic" mercury that Newton copied from a text by another known alchemist, an American chemist named George Starkey. Starkey studied at Harvard University, and moved to England in 1650 to work with eminent chemists of the time; he eventually ended up working with Robert Boyle, one of Newton's contemporaries.
Now that the CHF has purchased the manuscript, it will be added to The Chymistry of Isaac Newton project, an online repository curated by Indiana University, so it can be shared and studied more widely, Voelkel said.

Ancient Necropolis Discovered Near Aswan, Egypt
A remarkable 3,400-year-old necropolis has been discovered at an Egyptian quarry site, the Ministry of Antiquities announced on Wednesday. Consisting of dozens of rock-cut tombs, the New Kingdom necropolis was found at Gebel el Silsila, a site north of Aswan known for its stone quarries on both sides of the Nile. Blocks used in building almost all of ancient Egypt’s great temples were cut from there. “So far we have documented over 40 tombs, including a small shrine on the banks of the Nile,” Said Lund University archaeologist Maria Nilsson, director of the Gebel el Silsila Survey Project.
Nilsson and associate director John Ward concentrated on the cleaning of a small selection of tombs. Their team worked in cooperation with the Ministry of Antiquities. The excavation wasn’t an easy task; since the tombs were affected by the annual Nile floods, the archaeologists had to deal with disturbed layers containing pottery, bones, beads and Nile silt, mixed with remains of animals, including crocodiles.
Accessed via a series of steps that descend into a rough-cut squared chamber, the tombs feature entrances consisting of a square aperture that incorporate a vertical slot to either door. This would have facilitated a heavy, vertically-closing type of closure. Since the burials are quite elaborate in their style, Nilsson and Ward speculate they are not tombs for the quarry workers, but were rather assigned to people of higher rank.
“Preliminary analysis of the bones suggests burials of men, women and children of all ages. Importantly, this indicates a more permanent habitation at Gebel el Silsila than previously thought,” Ward said.

The Lost City of Cambodia
(Editor's Note: I simply cannot do this article justice in 2000 characters. It's an amazing story, you should just ignore this synopsis and head over and read the full article.)
Phnom Kulen is only some 25 miles north of a metropolis that reached its zenith three centuries later—the greatest city of the Khmer Empire, and possibly the most glorious religious center in the history of mankind: Angkor, derived from the Sanskrit word nagara, or holy city, site of the famed temple Angkor Wat. But first there arose Phnom Kulen, the birthplace of the great Khmer civilization that dominated most of Southeast Asia from the 9th to the 15th centuries.
Nothing ignites an archaeologist’s imagination like the prospect of a lost city. In the late 19th century, French explorers and scholars, pursuing fragmentary clues about the existence of Phnom Kulen, hacked their way through the jungles of Southeast Asia. Inscriptions found on temple doors and walls made mention of a splendid hilltop capital called Mahendraparvata. A French archaeologist, Philippe Stern, trekked to the top of the Phnom Kulen plateau in 1936, and in five weeks of excavations he and his co-workers uncovered the ruins of 17 Hindu temples, fallen carved lintels, statues of the Hindu god Vishnu, and remnants of a great stone pyramid. Stern believed that he had located Mahendraparvata. But the temples of Angkor, built on a more accessible flat plain and visible on a larger scale, were more compelling to archaeologists, and the excavations at Phnom Kulen never advanced much beyond Stern’s initial dig. Then came decades of neglect and horror.

Scientifically proving/disproving paranormal phenomenon and myths thread
Recently I have been getting more into gemstones and crystals and I set up this experimantal procedure to find out if it truely works or not.
I'm not sure if I'm actually going to do this, but if I am I need to buy these pouches and some crystals/gemstones in bulk and would also need a personality test or whatever I can use to look for the effects of the gemstones.
What does /x/ think of the procedure?
Did I do something wrong?
(I personally don't think the groups are correct with using chakras instead of the specific effects of the stones, but I can't think of anything better since doing it this way would give me around 30 groups at least)
Also does anyone else have something they want to prove/disprove, because I would gladly help if I can.
The stones themselves have no effect. It's a placebo. Attaching "luck" to an object will make you feel lucky when carrying it, which will boost confidence. Confidence is good.
Equally, if told that the stones were "cursed", the carrier may lose confidence, making them act negatively.
>>17541078
I have not found any scientific study to back this up yet, if you did find one please share it.
I made this procedure to find out wether it is a placebo or wether it's real.
>>17541059
Looks like a solid enough experiment to me. I would glue the pouches shut too, so that it's very obvious if one of the pouches is opened.

X how can I escape reality and have a lucid dream.
>>17540644
1. Keep a dream journal, this will help you remember dreams and recognise recurring themes. Write in it as soon as you wake up and jot down all the details.
2. Perform reality checks on a regular basis - Whenever you remember to, perform a reality check, look at your hands, study them, count the amount of fingers, ask yourself if they are real and whether you are dreaming.
3. Question reality, question everyday happenings and whether they are real or not, meet up with someone you haven't seen in a while? Reality check. Find something out of place? Reality check. Do something awkward? Reality check. Scared? Reality check. All these will help you to discover you're lucid in a dream.
4. Once you're in a lucid dream it can be easy to lose it and wake up, the main rule to follow is that you remain calm, if you get too excited your brain will wake you up. If you feel yourself losing the dream fall backwards and try to conjure up another dreamworld, it should help solidify the dream reality.
5. Practice, you will get better at lucid dreaming in time, but you have to be consciously working on reality checks and keeping a dream journal.
6. If you discover a theme in your dreams, such as a recurring character, object, place, or event, use it as a reality check, ingrain it in your mind that that is a theme you dream about and perform a reality check whenever that happens.
7. Have fun.
Whenever i try to wake up in a dream i get like paralyzed and my whole body is stuck for like 5 seconds but im awake
