So for some reason my computer wouldn't display after a restart. Everything booted up fine and I could hear windows working--if I unplugged something I would hear the doot-de-doot sound and everything. Only my monitor was stuck in power-save mode. I shutdown, restart, checked the cables, opened the case to make sure my GPU fans were spinning, all that good stuff. I was planning on ordering some new display port cables to rule that out before RMA'ing my video card, when I heard a little voice inside me say, "Why don't you try unplugging it for 60 seconds like all those Dell and Comcast customer support people from your youth would tell you to do even though it never ever solved the problem."
Well, for once, it fucking worked! Now, what I'd like to know is, *why* did it work? I can't wrap my head around it. I don't use sleep, hibernation or any of that shit. My bios settings are such that when I shutdown, my pc is off. So why would unplugging it actually change anything?
By unplugging do you mean from the wall? If so, it'd discharge the capacitors.

If you don't unplug some things, they stay on stand-by, keeping some RAM powered. If there's some bug or corruption on the temporary data stored on the monitor it won't go away unless you clear the capacitors.

So, occasionally, when I'm playing a windowed game, such as I Wanna Be The Boshy, it will briefly "deselect" and I won't be able to control my character for a second or so. After that second, I'm probably dead but I gain control of the game again. This occur every 30 seconds to every 2 minutes. What is going on and how can I fix it? It happens for VVVVVV too.
It doesn't happen on fullscreened games,such as Nuclear Throne or Team Fortress 2.

An item has a 5% drop rate. I need 4 of them. How many monsters do I need to kill to have a reasonable (say 95%) chance to get all 4?
It takes 10 minutes to find one of these monsters. How long should I expect to spend?
Any given fight gives you a 1/20 chance to get the item. So, after about 80 fights, you have a decent chance of having 4.
However, item drop probability doesn't work on this perfect line; imagine trying to guess what number a rolling 20-sided die will land on, and that's about what you've got for your item drop chance.
Are you farming for Ribbons?

Not having 1 on 2 monsters = 95^2%
Not having 1 on 59 monsters < 5%

If you want more strategy, then you'd love Hunter x Hunter. The MC isn't exactly trying to become the strongest, he's just trying to find his dad and figure out why he abandoned him to become a Hunter. It's good stuff. And the cast are the epitome of underdogs, since the enemy is always better than them, thus making them have to form strategies to overcome the odds. Also, it may be 148 episodes long, but they honestly fly by with how easy it is to watch multiple episodes in a row without getting bored. The intrigue only increased the more I watched it.

In this case, yes, the light novels are the source. For future reference though, that's not always the case.
From some online searching, season 1 covered volumes 1 and 2 while season 2 covered volumes 3 and 5. So you'll get some new content when it you get to the 4th book's adapted material in the manga regardless. And the manga does seem to still be in production. Yen Press has released 12 manga volumes of the 13. From a post in 2013, it wasn't past the anime, but maybe it is now? Too much work to find that one out.
You can find those 12 manga volumes online though.
Hopefully that all makes sense.
