I am looking for a game I played a LONG LONG time ago and can't seem to find it.
Here are some things I know about it
- The name contains Malibu or Beach (one of those)
- You play as a character online and other people have their own characters
- You can do whatever you want
- Basically roleplay
- Get cars, chat and play around and shit

/vr/ is filled with experts on this kind of thing, I recommend you look for their "That one game you forgot the name of" thread. Good luck.

Not only does that thread not exist, it doesn't even sound like OP is asking about a retro game.

my ps3's hdmi port is fucked up from tripping on the cord, pins bent and broken plastic piece in the middle is missing.

I only have a pc monitor to use(used hdmi to dvi) and it only has a dvi-d and vga

is there some way to get it to work with the composite/component to the monitor?

Can't afford to replace the monitor, have the ps3 repaired or a pricey converter

crt tvs are freeish, your best bet would be to go to a thrift store and buy one for $5 or check craigslist someone is probably trying to give one away in your town right now.

if that is too much then you need to stop playing video games and get a job.

alternatively you can painstakingly rebuild your hdmi port with glue and bits of scrap, if you are capable of such feats continue with your life as desired like i do.

My shop thread's been going for a couple days, but as you seem so lonely here i'll give you a task.

Can you extend this (Change the resolution) to 1920x1080 for me?

Give it your best shot, and i can guide you if you get stuck!

So I discovered some songs recently which sound pretty cool, but good god I couldn't care less about the lyrics. I mostly listen to instrumental-only songs so of course I looked around to see if instrumental versions of them exist and while I couldn't find anything, I don't really have access to some of those private music forums/trackers/etc and didn't check out any of those not-a-virus.mp3 sites around so maybe something exists on those. And to top it off I'm not familiar with these artists at all so maybe they've released albums with instrumental versions and I just don't know what to look for.

The songs in question are these:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppzTFgwZxhc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0WcHrLzTX8

Does anyone know if (preferably official) instrumental versions of these songs exist anywhere? Or a good way to remove the vocals myself? I think I remember trying to do this myself a few years ago on a different song but all it did was distort the audio. I was thinking maybe I could try contacting the artists and seeing what they have to say (I do this with really small indie artists I like) but I guess these aren't just people who are making music in their mom's basements so that wouldn't work. At least for the first link I found this, but it doesn't use that neat flute(?) sound that's in the original. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIsWgAfOQtE

Are there anymore songs that sound similar to 2:40-2:59 in the second link too? I just think it sounds cool.

Also, if you want something similar in the future, you can do it quite easily with gimp's filters (including g'mic). Let me give you a fast rundown of what I did.

First, using the rule of 3, I calculated how I'd need to blow up the picture to 149% in order for it to be about 1200px high. Then, through g'mic's diffusion upscale filter (in gimp, Filters > G'mic > Repair > Upscale [diffusion]), I blew it up to 149%. As for the parameters, I used something like, 0 smoothness, 0 anisotropy, 10 sharpness, or something along those lines. But you can play with the parameters yourself to make it look like it should whenever you're using that filter.

The result was 1205px high, which was 5 px too much, so I made the image 1200px high through Image > Canvas Size. I made it 1920px wide there too, centering it and making sure the 5px of extra height were taken out were from the top (-5 on the y axis).

That left me with transparent space at the right and left, so I added an alpha channel to the original layer (right click on the layer > add alpha channel) and made a new layer that only occupied half of the image horizontally from the right, positioned under the original layer. I took the color from the top and bottom right of the original layer, and used the gradient tool to fill the new layer with these colors. Then, using a 100px-sized feathered brush, I deleted a bit of the side of the original layer, for added smoothness of merging with the new layer. I then repeated the process for the left side, with a third layer.

Then, to finish it off, I added film grain through Filters > Noise > Add Film Grain. Then I made it grayscale through Image > Mode > Grayscale, and exported it as a png (File > Export as..., and name the file with the .png extension).

And now you know how to do this whenever you wanna make a wallpaper from a smaller, old, B&W, grainy picture.

The BDs have also been ripped, but I don't know about the quality of the subs. Download an episode and make sure.

All right /wsr/, I'm having computer problems. Can you help me identify and fix it?

Whenever I play Dota 2 (I am not sure if this applies to other games, Dota 2 is the only one it has occured with. I can confirm LISA worked fine), my computer crashes without a bluescreen or error message and then immediately restarts. After restarting, there's no error message either. Like nothing happened. I've only seen it happen while playing Dota 2.
I've tried identifying it on my own, but it hasn't worked. Here's what I've suspected:
It may be a RAM issue. I had some issues with this a while ago (something on the bluescreen about errors in paged file areas not being available) , and first fix that worked that didn't require replacing them is what I went with: I removed the paging file. This works for me, I haven't had many problems but I have to watch my RAM usage carefully, but I'm used to that having only 4 GB.
I thought it was an overheating issue as during play my GPU reached temperatures of 82*c peak, and then shortly crashed. After fixing this and lowering the peak temperatures to about 75, it's still occurring though, and I don't think a GPU crash and kill the entire computer.
While attempting to fix this through the magical process of fucking google it, I came across some anecdote that a dusty mobo could be the cause. It's been a long time since I last dusted it off, so this may be the cause, but I don't know if a dusty mobo can actually fuck things up that much, and I'm sure it can't be too dusty.
Here's my idle temperatures. I don't have any under load screenshots, though I could get one if necessary.

Any ideas? I'll reply with anything I can come up with or anything you need to help fix.

You should dust your computer out every six months.
I've seen fucking half dollar sized dust balls in computers that aren't maintained.
Compressed air is like two bucks a can, try that.
