I just got an iMac, and I'm pretty excited to have such a relatively cheap, fast, and powerful computer. However, it's become very apparent to me within just a few hours of use that Macs are entirely different from windows. Aside from the small problems, like setting desktop icons, I need help with finding a torrent client. I tried dev.deluge-torrent.org/wiki/Installing/MacOSX and the instructions there absolutely baffled me. If you guys could recommend me an easier install/maybe provide some general rules of thumb about how macs differ from windows,...

There's loads of torrent clients just get the one you want. Don't use a VPN so can't help you there (though VPN stuff is built in and in network settings), but QuickTime has a screen recorder.
A nice tip - cmd + space brings up the finder search so just type what you want and press enter, it makes doing anything so much quicker. Also pressin space on any file brings up a preview.

To record
you are listing containers (mp4, webm, mkv, etc). containers contain streams. video streams are encoded with video codecs (like AVC/x264, xvid). the codec and codec settings (most importantly bitrate) determine the quality, not the container.
selecting a container shouldn't matter too terribly much. you can pretty much freely switch between most containers without re-encoding any streams (thus preserving exactly the same quality and wasting no time). personally i love mkv because it is free, open and incredibly versatile.
Hey, /wsr/, can anyone give me any recommendations of movies that are similar to things like Lost in Translation, Her and Birdman? Similar emotions/atmosphere, so like melancholy, kind of ethereal and dreamy... does anyone get what I mean? I really enjoy this kind of movie.
I just saw Her and LiT really recently actually, so I'm in the same boat.
It's a Chinese film, but I've heard good things about In the Mood for Love, which was a huge inspiration for Lost in Translation. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has a similar feel, although it's a bit too mindfucky for me. Maybe try Garden State.
Personally, I haven't really found anything quite as good as Her or LiT.. They're just so unique. The only other movie that captures the melancholy feeling for me is Cast Away.

I don't have the helm and sword anymore, so to begin: her irises are a reddy pink and the horns were a really realllllly dark red, barely off black. The sword had black feathers, a steel colored edge and the back part of it was the same red as the wings.
