I thought it was pretty great. Definitely could have handled Satoshi-Gekkouga better as it felt kind of thrown in and maybe a better reaction from everyone when Gekogashira evolved instead of Serena going "that's cool, let's keep batlling". The battles were nice too but I disliked the beam fest.

What's wrong with the very talented Jessie actually having her skill acknowledged? She for sure deserved to win the last one, Serena's was just the same shit she did last time. Boring boring boring.
Maybe it's because I have some character flaw of some sort, but all her performances so far have come across as nothing really worthwhile. Especially her first loss, where they tried to make you feel sad because she fucked up. No, I'm not. They are, they should be about skills and bonds. Serena had neither. And her wins since, most everyone had better performances than her.
Basically, I don't like being handheld and told who I should feel what for by show writers. It's not an issue with just Serena either - when Ash actually EARNS his wins, that is satisfactory.
