>What is Evolve (stage 2)?
Evolve uses an asymmetrical structure where five players, four playing as hunters and one as the monster, battle against each other in an industrialized alien planet called Shear.
Stage 2 is the transition to Free To Play + a lot of gameplay changes.
>I heard the game was dead?
It was (at least on PC). 100-200 players and little to no updates from the developers. If F2P can bring it back is unknown, but as of right now 18k people are playing it.

It's free. 18GB. Download and test it out.
>F2P Model?
Every week, four hunters (one of each class) and one monster will be in the free rotation. There are currently 24 Hunters and 7 Monsters in total, though some are variations of others. By playing the character tutorials, you unlock one hunter (Markov) and one monster (The Goliath) to keep forever.
Additional monsters, hunters, perks, and skins are unlocked by earning silver keys. Silver keys are earned by playing the game, leveling up, or getting login bonuses. Currently you can't actually buy silver keys, presumably so they can test the unlock rate, but that's coming later.
There is also a monthly login bonus punch card. You get one punch for each day you log in. Beyond silver keys, this can directly award new Hunters and Skins.

You can buy the game and it to gives your account full founder benefits, which gives you 30k keys and most characters.

Already tried, killing the support while the medic is still alive is already difficult, and if I have to kill both support and medic before attacking the assault, I'm already dead. Current free assault does an insane amount of damage with his lightning thingy.
Rogue Val is honestly the only medic I have a problem with, every time I deal some damage to her, she instantly heal to full health, every fucking time.

What monster are you playing as and what stage are you fighting people at? if they've got a strong line up just do your best to run and get stage 2/3, you'll fair pretty badly against her as stage 1, I can manage as MG to wipe a team with R.Val and Sunny, you should have even less problem if you play kraken or wraith. Also try and push support out of LOS as much as possible i.e off of cliffs, around corners anywhere it's disadvantageous for the medic to get a view of them.

When the monster hits stage 3 run to the relay and pray to god your medic/support doesn't suddenly remember they have sever down syndrome. If you're lucky and your assault isn't using his shitty secondary weapon cause that AR reminds him of his Cawadoody, you'll deal enough damage to make the monster run away to get some armor back. This is when you dome him, unless he goes into a cave. NEVER DOME WHEN THE FUCKING MONSTER GOES INTO A CAVE. JUST BECAUSE THE BUTTON POPS UP DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO PRESS IT HOLY FUCKING SHIT.

At stage 3 the monster is going to either come to rekt you or destroy the relay. Doming it as soon as you see it is stupid because it's not going to last enough time, he will just escape and recharge armor and come back and this time you won't have a dome. Not only that but you also risk getting trapped with the monster instead of trapping it.
Use your dome only if he is trying to escape without armor/ low health.

Can you please explain the harpoon traps to me?
I tried them out in a custom game with a friend of mine playing monster and he said they slowed him down a bit but weren't really a big deal, I assume I'm using them wrong, my biggest issue with any of the stasis weapons is they don't prevent the monster jumping or goliaths charge.
I mostly play crowe so I assumed harpoon traps would be more effective than his stasis gun but it really didnt seem like they were.

Stasis works by slowing the monsters movements without.
Harpoon traps work by hindering the monsters movements.
It's soft cc that cant' be easily removed

Hard cc that can be easily removed.
Harpoons effect traversals and mobility based attacks much greater than stasis does. Harpoons also require the monster to break focus to remove themusually if he's already face the harpoon or the traps are poorly placed they are usually easily dealt with.
Tell you're friend to keep playing monsters when he's meets a good griffin he'll hate the harpoon.

Most people think griffin has the best CC because it works well in any situation.
Maggies doesn't really work well vs kraken for example, although that largely depends on how the kraken plays and where the dome is.
Only advice for normal maggies harpoons consistency, Fire a harpoon where it won't break before it can go off, go back to shooting.
The game doesn't tell you but guns reload with you needing to do it.
Every time a new trap is ready switch and fire a another and then shoot the monster again. Bounty hunter is really good for this and maybe a reload perk.
Putting harpoon traps on the edge of cliffs is usually better than the monsters feet and you ideally don't want all your traps in the same area, maggies harpoons are much more effective when the monster is forced to spend time breaking 2 or 3 harpoons on him from different directions.
But mostly you should play her because daisya cute

Its probably just lag. The game handles latency really poorly, and since its F2P there are going to be a lot of people with BR net cafe tier internet.
I'd suggest trying to predict when they're going to warp and having it on them before they go for it, if you're half a second late because of human reaction times and some lag she's going to get get most of her distance traveled anyway, and obviously holding her in place doesn't stop the explosion.
I think the beam is just tricky in general too. I've never tried it, but looking at it on video it seems pretty finicky on what does and doesn't count as the proper angle.
I've never actually seen it stop abduction, but I haven't played Wraith against Jack much. It should work, I think, but abduction is kind of a glitchy ability in a couple ways so you never know.

If someone is being focused it means their abilities and jetpack are usually depleted and they are low on health. Body blocking prevents downing and could possibly lead the monster to focus you while the medic works his magic. That is what being a Hunter is all about. Managing aggro and cooldowns.

-attack the support and kill him until he can't be revived
-attack the assault or the trapper after this
-don't forget to kill them until they can't be revived anymore

Nope it's a buff, it means less time is needed between the entering of aiming mode and cast of ability. so it now comes out .1s faster if you just tap the button instead of holding it.

There just isn't enough drive/content there to keep people playing, and it doesn't help that the gameplay is really very repetitive after maybe 100 matches. There used to be some form of interest because the monster had more options, it could juke people, it could hide, you'd have to think more carefully, etc. Now it's just run at the monster, fight, run again, repeat. Bro, any game that has grinding will have people try to find the fastest and most efficient way to get through it. You can't blame people for not wanting to wait around when they could get their rewards faster, especially if what's already in the game is boring to play at this point. The only scenario in which its better is if they kill the decoy instantly, which basically never happens.
If it runs the timer out, which happens 95% of the time its going to take longer.
And I expect the range nerf to be more significant than it seems. Decoy's range was huge and that was a big part of what made it actually useful. If it was going after someone it was hard to escape from in any direction other than backwards because it would smack you out of your dodge. Assuming its range is now equal to Wraith's its pretty easy to avoid just by the standard movement you do when being focused by the monster. I've played against AI Wraiths, they aren't great at hitting people.

You compared theoretical limits under perfect circumstances, circumstances which will never occur in a real game.
Yeah, if the monster's right in front of him Parnell's shotgun can do 88-122 a shot, but at mid-range or with any inaccuracy that plummets to around 22-44 damage a shot which is worse than your trapper's damage output.
Hyde's chaingun, similarly, does amazing DPS at close range and with headshots but is much less damaging at mid and long range.
Blitz/Markov gets a large chunk of his damage (and utility) from mines. A charged Blitz mine currently does 750 damage.

Downing Bucket would take less time but would not cause a snowball effect because he can still use both team shield and ability recharger while downed
The only way to proceed is to down the Assault so you can live long enough to take down all that sustain, but unless you're already stage 2 that's very unlikely to happen.

You can continually dart in any direction once you have stamina. Use it to drop quickly to keep a low profile behind scenery to quickly close in with wildlife to eat or to break line of sight with Hunters.
Banshee Bombs are extremely useful for fire and forget situations when you're being focused down and need to distract certain Hunters while you go after a specific target. They're also useful as traps to leave behind you along the route you're taking, or as a kind of early warning system if you're evolving and think you might be caught at any moment.
Vortex is useful for knocking Hunters off of scenery, hitting them mid air when your conventional air attack might miss, for setting up Lightning Strikes, for pushing a Hunter into a specific area or knocking Hunters off a revive.
Lightning Strikes deal massive AoE and are useful for also stopping revives, but they take skill to set up against players who know what they're doing. Try to place them once a Hunter has used his dodge so he can't escape, or anticipate the area where the Hunter is likely to dodge into.
I rarely use Aftershock but it's very useful in enclosed spaces, for also stopping revives and also as a shock tactic where you charge it midair and then suddenly drop to the ground and unleash it at the last second.

Man. This game is so bizarre with it's numbers, they way they fine tune balance stuff that isn't really obvious or explained anywhere. Like the planet scan speed boost is not consistent among all trappers, Griffin's is the slowest. And B. Markov and regular Markov's guns being different ranges, and generally just having all these inconsistencies and changes in things that are supposed to be consistent like class abilities.

Assuming good hunters, 1 point in each skills, you need to play the long game. Run and eat until your 1st dome. Try to down at least 1 hunter then book the fuck out when the dome drops and evolve. Continue doing this with the 2,3,4th domes until most hunters have 1 or 2 strikes and you're at stage 3. Final fight at relay should be winnable most of the time if you still have decent health.

I am really worried about the longevity of this game. Not because of player retention but because of profitability. There just isn't that much to spend money on. Characters and perks are just not enough to keep the game sustained, especially when they are so easy to buy with ingame money. The skins are so underwhelming that they may as well be irrelevant, and making it harder to obtain characters and perks will just anger the playerbase. Also there is a huge stigma after stage1 of Evolve being the goy game so I think the devs themselves are worried about trying to make too much money off of it, scared of backlash when we people start making parallels to stage 1. I think this game is not going to make very much money and it's going to die which really sucks.

Casual/ranked should have roughly the same balance but with slightly different numbers. For example if they find out that laz is dealing too much damage because pro players are landing every shot as a headshot, they could lower his damage slightly in ranked, but keep it the same for casual. The only differences between the two versions should be minor number differences. Goliath does more damage per hit, Meatier Goliath has bigger AoEs, a DoT on all his abilities and I think more range. Just going by the numbers, M has got easily enough advantages to make up for the less upfront damage, but burst is really important in the super defensive meta the game has right now.
Either way, you got regular Goliath for free, and M probably isn't a big enough upgrade to be worth spending the keys on unless you're really sure you prefer him a lot.

What are some tips for playing as the monster generally? I like playing monster a bit I think but so far I ONLY like the goliath. Not interested in any of the other monsters. I don't like floating around like a octopus and I don't like skittering around like a retard spider.
I really just want to slam into people and throw people around.
What are some general tips for goliath? Also, is the only way to play to focus down the support or medic first? Seems kind of shitty because its hard to keep them both busy so they can't save each others lives while one is being focused.

hunters have ALWAYS been overpowered
in all honestly, the devs just posted an update stating that are buffing monsters and how hunters are slightly favored - they are. There are a few troublesome balance issues, spider monster's acid and buckets le time mage power
it's pretty good, there's no time in the game where you feel fucked, each stage up gives a significant amount of health, but net armor is reduced. Stage 3 is crazy good, the relay is much easier to kill, and if you wait too long as stage 3; the relay creates a shield that effectively increases hunter hp by 15-20.
It's better, domes aren't death sentence and forces interaction, there is also a HUGE QUALITY OF LIFE BUFF: you no longer get stuck on fucking terrain and ability clipping issues. much better hit boxes and ui fluidity.
there is a planet scanner which shows your general position and 3d image to the trapper, it's a crutch and can easily be juked as the game tells you when it's used and when it's on. Beginning "stealth" where you snek around is dead, but if you are intelligent and juke to stealth, it's good. you can still get to stage 2 before your first hunter interaction.
the perk system is a bit grindy, but there are now more varied perks, for example, I play meteor goliath with poison claws, all of my attacks deal 70 damage a second for 3 seconds, plus my ability fire, and I have 15% movespeed. on behemoth I have like 40% movespeed with my glacial skin and pretend to be sonic.
it's fun. TRS also is much more community oriented and vocal, much quicker about patches as well.

More damage != better performance. Personally I go for strikes and not disengaging as soon as the dome drops. Losing less health is better than overcomitting too early imo.

Consistency, mainly.
Lightning gun does absurd damage and will do absurd damage in every fight basically regardless of what the monster does.
The mines are crazy as fuck area denial too. If you've got a coordinated team you spread them out on a cliff and any time someone gets focused they hide in them and the monster can't chase without taking 750 damage.
Lennox does the most damage, but she has to be able to stick to the monster to do it so it can be tough against Kraken or mobile Wraiths.
Hyde is also shortish range and his damage isn't as good unless he can keep the monster in his gas.
Blitz and Lennox are getting nerfed though.
