Evolve uses an asymmetrical structure where five players, four playing as hunters and one as the monster, battle against each other in an industrialized alien planet called Shear.
Stage 2 is the transition to Free To Play + a lot of gameplay changes.

It was (at least on PC). 100-200 players and little to no updates from the developers. If F2P can bring it back is unknown, but as of right now 18k people are playing it.

Every week, four hunters (one of each class) and one monster will be in the free rotation. There are currently 24 Hunters and 7 Monsters in total, though some are variations of others. By playing the character tutorials, you unlock one hunter (Markov) and one monster (The Goliath) to keep forever.
Additional monsters, hunters, perks, and skins are unlocked by earning silver keys. Silver keys are earned by playing the game, leveling up, or getting login bonuses. Currently you can't actually buy silver keys, presumably so they can test the unlock rate, but that's coming later.
There is also a monthly login bonus punch card. You get one punch for each day you log in. Beyond silver keys, this can directly award new Hunters and Skins.

You can buy the game and it to gives your account full founder benefits, which gives you 30k keys and most characters.

Probably rogue val > caira > val, but it depends how good you are at jetpack management and general monster dodging etc.
Rogue Val has enormous self-healing with her burst so with a competent support you're crazy hard to kill, and healing is just pointing the beam at the guy with the least health and trying to keep people in your aura, and while its recharging you just spam your gun.
Caira requires some aim, but the aoe on the grenades is huge and you have speed burst to make yourself a little harder to catch, but its not as significant as it seems if the monster is focused on you. Her self healing isn't huge but at least it exists, can be the difference between living and dying really easily. She can heal from enormous range too, which can make her almost impossible to kill in the right situation.
Val dies the easiest, but has the best single target healing and the most utility. Healing is still just shooting a beam, but it has to be constantly on the guy getting focused and you need to know when to use the burst for someone else or to save it for yourself. Her increased utility also means that to get most out of the character you need to be on point with keeping the slow and weakpoints up, while healing as much as possible and keeping good positioning so you don't die if the monster switches to you.

weapons reload in the background, once you switch out of a weapon the reload immediately begins, even if you switch straight back to it no reload animation will play, but you wont be able to fire until those reload time numbers are reached. It used to be bugged where switching back to a background reloading weapon would force a complete restart, but that was patched out in 9.0.
this means if you're running double reload on griffin, you'll have more harpoon uptime if you STAY on the weapon and reload it in hand since you don't have to waste weapon switching time, if you have fast swap however it's better to switch out and do something else since you wouldn't be able to use the harpoon gun anyway and you can quickly switch back the moment it comes off reload. You can't do this with double reload because swapping weapons normally takes for-fucking-ever and you'll reload it faster than you can switch into your gun and back to your harpoon.

Just micromanage your abilities better. It's a good idea to feint combat with one particular hunter so that the others think it's safe to blob on the corpse for a revive. Then just pull a 180 and Lightning Strike or Vortex them to oblivion

Wow guys, I started checking Slim since it's on the free hunter rotation.
He is not actually too bad IF you have a decent support with shields and good aim. It feels like you are more able to take matters into your own hands when the monster focus you by spamming your weapon and using healing bursts nonstop.
I just wish the healing drones would be more useful and not get destroyed so quick on teammates.

he's one of a few assaults that can maintain pretty good damage at really long range. pretty sure they nerfed the shotgun but hes easily the safest longest ranged assault. both his weps are R to reload so no waiting or being forced to alternate.
super soldier is good on its own but can be really insane with the right perks to make the most out of that small time frame, and the right comp to maximize damage done in that time
that said he has no real area denial or larger AOE effects and is literally a guy with 2 big guns and the means to shoot them faster

why are monsters so shit? planet scanner negates any attempt to play stealthily, guaranteeing you'll get domed. so now the devs have forced a level 1 confrontation which purposely leaves the monster at a disadvantage, and a good group of humans will never ever lose track of the monster
in old evolve sometimes the only way to win was to get level 2 or 3 without getting caught, and laughably even then if you were a wraith you could be defeated by a turtle lineup

I didnt really play much of old Evolve but I do remember monsters getting rekt at stage 1 but being able to stay hidden until stage 3, also the planet scanner completely negated the use of several trapper powers designed to find a hiding monster, Crowe's bird thing is just completely fucking redundant.

his gas grenades are total fucking garbage compared to launch, but they're not bad. They deal about 25% of the damage they originally did on launch, but the aoe was bumped up by about 30%. They used to be used to force the monster out of very specific spots or force him off the medic, now it's just kinda an annoyance you don't want to be.

Wraith has a special, passive ability that's curiously not in the game files. The ability makes anyone she beats suffer the incredible and incessant need to go on the forums and bitch and moan about how she's OP and needs a nerf before she kills the fanbase.

I had a pretty okay Slim on my team, only lost because the Hank decided to go the opposite direction of the power relay when we were all boosting for it.

How so? Both primaries are made for close range, but Parnell works somewhat in medium too, which is better than not being able to reach at all.
Parnell's rocket launcher is not that great, but it's free damage in super soldier if you have the quick change perk.

Hyde's chaingun isn't awful. Its pretty weak, but you never have to use it other than for tagging additional damage on while the monster runs away, and its better for that than rockets
Otherwise he just shoots fire constantly and uses his reloads to reposition his grenade.
With both flamethrower and grenade, his damage is better than Parnell in supersoldier, with just flamethrower he's better than Parnell out of SS, and he has the utility of area denial and doesn't cost himself health to do damage.
