From what I've gathered from streams you can't researsh something more than once (like in HoI3 where your country could really focus on one thing) and you can not micromanage you supply chains and army structure.

Shit in what way? Also the only major thing from HoI3 that is gone is the OOB. I can't think of any other features that are gone. Variant building is worse than what you had in HoI3, but not from a gameplay perspective. It's just worse as far as immersion goes.
